Mary was born in the Hafford area on October 22, 1924. She married Bill Luchka and they farmed and lived in the Hafford area. Later they moved from the farm into the town of Hafford. In the early 1970's they moved to Calgary where Mary worked at a chicken packing plant. There she learned to drive in the big city of Calgary and got her driver's license. She made many new friends who, to this day have kept in touch. In the early 1990's they retired and moved back to settle in North Battleford and reunited with many new and old friends. She loved planting her garden yearly, going to church and being part of the women's auxiliary and put many hours into making perogies & cabbage rolls for sale at the church, bake sales, and exhibitions. She did this until her hands would not allow her to do it any longer. During their retirement years Mary enjoyed having company and visiting, especially with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, neighbours and friends.
