She was a graduate of Murray Vocational High School and was retired from the 6th Naval District, Charleston, where she received many commendations and awards. Betty was a member of Northwood Baptist Church and was strong in her love for God and family. She was known for her great cooking, craftwork, sewing, and poetry. She made Christmas Eve unique each year with decorations and new recipes to cook, always improving on the previous year. Her family always looked forward to seeing every room in her home with Christmas lights and decorations. She was quick to emphasize, though, that Jesus was the reason for our large family gatherings on Christmas Eve. Her late husband, Henry, was as organized as she, and his decorations were as plentiful on the outside of their home as the inside. Together they made a loving, Christian home for their children.
