Carl Wood Parnell Jr.

Carl is survived by his loving wife of 33 years and one week, Kathy Parnell; his mother Emma Lee Parnell; his sons Carl Wood Parnell III (Michelle) and Matthew Parnell (Shelia); his daughter Traci High (Billy Sr.); his stepdaughter Jamie Coleson; his grandchildren Lorelai Parnell, Leona Parnell, and Adeline High; his sister Shirley Neumann (David); his niece Jamie Lynn and many other nieces and nephews.

Carl was preceded in death by his father Carl Wood Parnell Sr. and his sister Linda Parnell.

Carl served in the United States Navy for 4 years and was very proud to be a veteran, he then went on to work at the Charleston Air force Base as a civil servant for 37 years. He was a great father and loved spending time with his family. He had a very special bond with his granddaughters, they were his pride and joy. Carl loved being outside, fishing, doing carpentry work or anything that involved using his hands. One of his favorite things to do was take a ride in his blue Chevrolet truck named “Old Blue”. Carl was the type of man who was very giving but didn’t do anything for recognition, only out of the kindness of his heart. He often donated to orphanages. Carl had a great sense of humor and always had a smile on his face and a positive attitude. Carl loved God and being a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

There will be a visitation and funeral service held for Carl on June 1, 2022 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. 1444 Remount Road, North Charleston, SC 29406. Vistitation will be from 10:00AM with a church service (officiated by Reverend Erik Grayson) to follow at 11:00AM. The graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:30 PM at Carolina Memorial Gardens 7113 Rivers Avenue North Charleston, SC 29406.
