

Born in Bonneau, SC, on Jan. 23, 1946, Carol Louise Crawford spent her entire life in the Lowcountry. She graduated from Macedonia High School in 1963 before relocating to North Charleston to attend business school. She married in 1966 and had her only child, Timothy Alan, in 1972.
Carol held secretarial jobs at multiple local businesses during her career, including the Charleston Navy Yard, insurance company Life of Georgia, furniture manufacturer O’Asian Designs, trucking company PIE Nationwide, and accounting firm Webster Rogers. She retired after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in the early 1990s.
She was a founding member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in North Charleston and spent her final years at White Oak Manor Nursing Home, where she was beloved by staff and residents.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, John Louis and Alice Sergeant Crawford; her brother, Louis Steven Crawford; and her sister, Cynthia Crawford Croft, who also died from complications from multiple sclerosis.
Carol is survived by her loving son, Tim Kauffman, and son-in-law, Rick Steeber; her devoted niece, Teresa Croft Rentzel (Gary); loving cousin Ricky Wheeler (Patti); and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday,
April 18, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 1150 E. Montague Ave., North Charleston, SC 29405. The inurnment will follow at 1:30 PM at Carolina Memorial Gardens 7113 Rivers Ave. N., Charleston, SC 29406. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
