Edwin Norman Ward

Norman was born August 16, 1927 in Suttons, Williamsburg County, SC to Sampson Ward and Elizabeth Louise Barrineau Ward.

He is served his country in the Army/ Air Force for 22 years, 3 months, 3 days with an Honorable Retirement on June 1, 1968. Norman began his second career November 17, 1968 until April 30, 1989 with the Naval Station Fire Department in Charleston, SC. He married Rosie (Jadwiga) Bonczak on May 8, 1956 in Kingsland, Georgia. Norman was a member of Holmes Avenue Baptist Church. He spent countless hours hunting and fishing. Nascar Sundays were a favorite.

Norman is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 65 years, Rosie (Jadwiga), his two daughters; Linda Ward Gatti of Lexington, SC and Karen Ward of North Charleston, SC. He had three grandchildren; Justin Ward Gatti, Ashley Elizabeth Rose Gatti Coomes and Kala Marisa Ward. He had four great grandchildren; Parker Joseph Coomes, Elizabeth Marion Coomes (Ellie), Kylie Lorraine Crawford-Gatti and Joseph Kash Gatti. Also, two brothers; Phillip Julian Ward (Joyce) and Franklin Roosevelt Ward (Jackie).

Norman is predeceased by his parents; Sampson and Louise Ward. His six brothers and sisters; Lofton Woodrow Ward (1st Margaret & 2nd Lorita), William Lewis Ward (Oneta), Walter Raymond Ward (Lena Mae), Levy Bryant Ward (Jeanette), Virginia Mae Ward Cooper (Harold) and Estelle Tinker Ward (1st Cecil & 2nd Thomas).

A Visitation will be held Sunday December 5, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 2:00pm at Carolina Memorial Funerals & Cremation, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406. A Celebration of Life will follow from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm in the Chapel. The Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens.
