Frederick known to all by Fred was born on January 6th, 1954, to the late Roy David Woods and Eleanor Louise Woods in Charleston, SC.
Fred is survived by his brother, Gerald Woods of Washington DC; one son, Jamie Woods and his wife Sonya; one daughter, Velma Wright and her husband Antwan and eight grandchildren: Bryceten Woods, Malayna Woods, Ethan Woods, Isaiah Woods, Annalee Woods, Chance Jones, Legend Jones, and Jordan Wright.
Fred loved traveling, sports, and fishing. He spent the majority of his life traveling across the US. He served in the United States Air Force. He later worked as a mail clerk for the Charleston Naval Base. He loved volunteering as a baseball and basketball coach in Hanahan, SC.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 from 1pm to 2pm at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Ave, North Charleston. The funeral service will follow at 2pm in the funeral home chapel. The interment with United States Air force honors will be in the Carolina Memorial Gardens.
