Jack Dempsey Jackson

He was born on September 25, 1939, in Lugoff, SC the son of late Sumpter Jackson and Katherine Richburg on February 22, 1964, he married the love of his life, Pauline Benton, whom he is survived by.

Jack served in the U.S. Navy as a signalman in the 1950's. After his discharge, he retired from Mead Westvaco in 2001 as a supervisor. He has a passion for racing cars and did so at the Summerville Speedway.

Mr. Jackson is also survived by his daughter Lawanda Heythaler of Michigan; daughter and son-in-law Lysa and Gene Ross of Summerville, SC; grandchildren Whitley Davis, Madelynn, Emma, and Jackson Ross; great grandchildren Hayden Groves, Aubrey and Dempsey Donavan; sister Margaret Rogers of Texas; and brother Johnny Jackson of Charleston, SC.

Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his sister Martha "Rooter" Mendenahall.

A visitation is scheduled for Friday April 28, 2023 from 6-8pm. Funeral Services will be held the next day on Saturday April 29, 2023 at 12:30 pm, burial with military honors to follow. Carolina Memorial Funeral Home 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406.
