

Relatives and friends of John Medlin are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 2:30 PM, Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406. Burial with military honors will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until the time of service on Thursday.
John was born in Cordele, Georgia on May 25, 1948. He was the son of Ernest P. and Louise Wolfe Medlin. John was a Vietnam Veteran, who proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was stationed on both the USS Norris and the USS Sellers. He was also a member of James Island Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, taught Royal Ambassadors and was on the Homebound Committee. John had a great passion for serving the elderly adults in the community.
John enjoyed fishing, flying kites and helping others. However, his favorite pastime was spending time with his family. He retired from Capt. Don’s Seafood after 20 years of management and was recently working at John’s Island Tool & Party Rental.
John is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sadie (Dee) Royal Medlin; his two children, Kimberly D. Medlin and J.B. Medlin, Jr. (Leslie); his grandchildren, Fisher Mackey Medlin and River John Medlin; a brother, Larry Medlin (Doreen) and a sister, Barbara Strickland. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Louise Medlin, his brothers, Harold Medlin, David Medlin, Jimmy Medlin and Joel Medlin, as well as his sister, Carolyn Cox.
He was a much beloved husband, father and granddaddy who will be greatly missed.
