John “Johnny” Ellis Murdaugh, Jr., 59, of North Charleston passed away on December 2, 2014 at his residence. Johnny was born on March 9, 1955 to Laura and John Ellis Murdaugh, Sr. in Charleston, SC. He retired from the North Charleston Police Department as a Sergeant after 25 years of service. He was an outdoorsman at heart and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his father, John Ellis Murdaugh, Sr.; two sons, John Ellis Murdaugh III (Leslie) and Kevin Murdaugh (Shannon); one daughter, Kari Morris (Justin); two grandchildren, Kylie Murdaugh and Wyatt Murdaugh, and two brothers, Mark Murdaugh (Kim) and Mike Murdaugh (Christy). He is also survived by two nephews and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother, Laura Murdaugh. Visitation will take place on Friday, December 5, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Carolina Memorial Chapel. The burial will follow immediately after the service in Carolina Memorial Cemetery.
