Judy Gail Benton

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon, on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am until the time of the service.

Burial will immediately follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens.

Judy was born on April 22, 1948, in Charleston, SC, to Benjamin and Irene (Carter) Wertz.

She married John Benton on June 23, 1967, in James Island, SC. She graduated from Murray Vocational High School. Judy worked as a cosmetologist with her sister Pat at St. Andrews Coiffures for 30 years.

She was involved in numerous groups and activities, including Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) group and bowling leagues. She was active in her local church and choir, and committed to caring for her children and grandchildren.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Irene Wertz; sisters, Pat Stelling and Helen Jordan; and her brother, Bobby Wertz.

Judy is survived by her husband of 58 years, John J. Benton; children, Kevin Benton, Jason Benton, and Ryan Benton; grandchildren, Anna Morgan, Natalie, Jacob, Autumn, and Ava; great-granddaughter, Indi; sister, Henrietta Hartline; and a host of additional relatives and friends to cherish her memory.

The family of Judy wishes to extend our sincere thanks to family and friends, and all who helped minister and care for her.
