OBITUARY

Kit Kerwin Knudsen

20 October, 1960 – 11 February, 2019
IN THE CARE OF

Carolina Funeral Home & Gardens

Kit Kerwin Knudsen of Hanahan, SC, died peacefully in his sleep at Trident Hospital following a long illness battling COPD. He was 58 years old.

Born October 20, 1960, Kit was a graduate of Hanahan High School Class of ‘79. He worked as a paint specialist for automotive paint and body shops. He was a very gifted automotive painter.

Kit was a free-spirited person; a caring man that struggled with many of life’s challenges. He will always be remembered as a loving, sensitive person.

Kit was preceded in death by his parents, Lillie Madge Knudsen of Jacksonville, FL and Percy Niels Knudsen of Walterboro, SC, his oldest brother, Kurt Knox Knudsen of Ladson, SC, and a nephew, Sonny Mills. He is survived by two brothers, Karl Knox Knudsen of ,last known address, Portland, OR and Neil (Donna) Knudsen of Goose Creek, SC; two sisters: Debra (Randy) Mills of Grand Bay, AL and Ginger (Tim) Knudsen, Oden, Sturgeon, Patchell of Jacksonville, FL, Three nieces and four nephews: Carolyn Mills of NV, Tradd Patchell of Panama City, FL, Quinton and Haley Knudsen of Portland, OR, Faith (Matt) Bongiorno of Ridgeville, SC, Kristopher Knudsen of Summerville and Brandon (Kirsten) Knudsen of Hanahan, SC; three great-nephews: Aaron and Asher Bongiorno, and Landon Knudsen and four great-nieces: Amelia and Annelies Bongiorno, Sophia Knudsen and Julianna Knudsen.

Neil was proud and honored to stay by Kit’s bedside to the very end and is extremely grateful that our niece, Faith Bongiorno, took the time out of her extraordinary, busy schedule to be there with him, also. Such a brave and unselfish act given she endured witnessing her father, Kurt Knudsen, suffer the same fate just one year ago. We take comfort in the thought that Kit’s oldest brother, Kurt, can be there to guide him through. We imagine it to be a joyful reunion. Neil and his wife, Donna, are forever grateful for Faith’s strength and support. It was a comfort to know that Kit had loved ones by his bedside when God called him home.

I private memorial service will be held at a date yet to be determined.
