Relatives and friends are invited to attend a service celebrating Laura’s life at 11:00 AM, Monday, May 11, 2026, at the graveside, Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406.
Laura was born on April 24, 1961, in Gaffney and spent much of her childhood in Charlotte, where, as a teenager, she made the life-changing decision to follow Jesus Christ. Her faith remained the foundation of her life and carried her with strength and grace through every season.
Over the years, Laura lived in Greenville, the country of Jordan, and later Charleston, where she built a respected career as a tax accountant with Riser Gibbons & Carpenter. She faithfully served there for 19 years before illness forced her retirement last fall.
Laura was a devoted mother whose love for her children knew no bounds. She was a compassionate listener, a trusted confidant, and a constant source of unconditional love and encouragement. While raising her sons in Greenville, she dedicated countless hours volunteering at church and at Southside Christian School. Her heart for family was especially evident during the adoption of her daughter, Ana, when Laura made numerous long journeys to Guatemala to be with her until the adoption process was complete.
Laura found joy in life’s simple blessings. She was an avid reader and deeply loved the water. Many cherished weekends were spent boating on the lakes around Greenville, and New Smyrna Beach remained one of her favorite places throughout her life. In her final days, she found peace sitting by the window, quietly watching the ocean she loved so much.
She is survived by her loving husband and devoted caregiver, John Nelson, who remained faithfully by her side throughout her illness; her son, Benjamin Abdelnabi; her daughter, Ana Nelson; her daughter-in-law, Janessa Campbell; her brother, Ronald (Carla) Griffin; and her stepchildren, Angela (Brian) Burleigh, Joshua (Melissa) Nelson, and Caleb (Jennifer) Nelson.
Laura also leaves behind ten beloved grandchildren: Zachary Campbell, Dillon Campbell, Austin Campbell, Izabella Nelson, Charlotte Nelson, Jonah Nelson, Eli Nelson, Silas Nelson, Eleanor Burleigh, and Blake Burleigh.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Joshua and Adam Abdelnabi, and by her mother, Martha Jordon, and her father, Ronald Forrest Moss Sr.
