

RAY GOLDEN HANAHAN - Ray Golden, 78, of Hanahan, SC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. He was born on December 6, 1938 in Ocilla, Georgia, the son of Robert Golden and Maurine Branch Golden. After graduating from high school in Ocala, FL, he served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He then enjoyed a successful career as a store manager and buyer for two regional department store chains. Along with his wife, he operated a lawn and garden shop in Hanahan for 25 years. Ray enjoyed gardening, watching college football, listening to Rush Limbaugh, reading the Daily Mail and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Ray will be sorely missed by his loving wife of 58 years, Lena; his daughter, Alysia Golden Lucas, her husband, Jeff, his son, Brian Golden, his wife Renee and granddaughters Reilly and Copelyn, all of Hanahan, SC; his son, Bruce Golden and his wife Jeannie, of North Charleston, SC; his daughter Valerie Golden Taylor, her husband Kevin and grandson Jackson of Goose Creek, SC; his sister, Mary Alice Miller and husband James and family, of Paisley, FL. He is also survived by in-laws Steven DeYapp, Nick Vigil, Mary Armenta, Rose Rivas, Evelyn Gonzales, Karen Holm and Monica Neumeyer and their families, all of New Mexico. Ray was preceded in death by his sister, Mae Elizabeth Willis of Tifton, GA. The family will receive friends at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC, 29406 on Saturday, August 19, 2017 from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm, to be followed by a memorial service. Entombment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org) and Hospice of Charleston(www.hospiceofcharleston.org).
