Rosa Jean Alexander

Relatives and friends of Rosa Alexander are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Wednesday. Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Alzheimer’s Association.

Rosa was born in Olanta, South Carolina on October 23, 1939. She was the daughter of George and Lena Sims and attended Olanta High School.

Rosa had a giving heart and a contagious laugh. She had a love for children, loved gardening, shopping, baking and hanging out with her family and will always be remembered for her spunkiness, organization and her baked “goodies”.

She is survived by her husband, Hoyt Allen Alexander; her daughters, Lisa K. Grammer (Joe) and Janet M. Thomas (Derek); her grandchildren, Cody J. Grammer, Justin T. Haglund, Raun K. Haglund (Molly) and Shane K. Thomas, and her great grandchildren, Kahlan A. Haglund and Andrew O. Haglund. Rosa was predeceased by her parents, George Washington Sims and Lena Pauline Smith Sims; sisters, Iro McKenzie Sims Welch (Pat), Adria Louise Sims Averitte (George), Heddie Sims, Jacqueline Marie Sims Welch (Heyward), Millie Rhea Sims Matthews (Billy) and Lillie Sims; brothers, William Lee Sims “Buster” (Dot), Guymon Wright Sims (Peggy), John R. Sims “J.R.”, George Vivian Sims (Eva Dell), Billy Sims, Robert Anderson Sims “Bobby” (Lula Bell) and Jack Legree Sims “Pete” (Laura).
