

Tommy H. Garrick passed away Thursday, August 22, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. If you wish to pay your respects for Tommy, his viewing (1PM), service (2PM) and burial (3PM) will be Monday, August 26 at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents Marylin and Lemuel Garrick, Sr. and his brother Lemuel Garrick, Jr., and his stepfather Bill Cox. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Butler Garrick (of almost 60 years); two daughters and son-in-law, Tammi Garrick Padget and Tim Padget, Tiffany Garrick Barb; four grandchildren, Victoriah Padget, U.S. Navy Airman Trenton Padget, Colleton County Firefighter/EMT Garrick Barb, and Gavin Barb; and two sisters and brother-in-law, Margaret and Harold Peterson and Donna Hartin. Tommy was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a Golden Gloves championship boxer. He also played football and baseball for the city of North Charleston. He worked for the federal government and retired with 49 years of service receiving numerous awards and accolades. Tommy was an active member of the Rifle Club and Old Farts Men’s Breakfast Club. Throughout his life, Tommy was very involved in civic engagement. He volunteered his time to coach boxing, football and baseball. He was the president of his neighborhood civic association in Evanston Estates for more than 15 years. Tommy’s community service was recognized by the city of North Charleston by declaring December 6, 2022 as Tommy Garrick Day. One of Tommy’s passions was collecting and restoring classic Chevy cars and trucks. Tommy could talk all day about all things car, and noticing any one of the cars or trucks in his collection would spark a conversation. However, out of all Tommy’s hobbies and accomplishments, his greatest pleasure in his life was being Big Daddy to his four grandchildren.
