    I was first introduced to Alex in 2012 through the unique and wonderful experience of working as his companion on the weekends during my senior year of high school. As someone who was preparing to go to film school, I thought I knew everything there was to know about movies and pop culture - but we all know there was no mind like Alex's. I definitely had to refresh my Star Wars, Marvel and DC trivia to keep up, and he beat me at most of the video games we played. I also had very little sports knowledge, but I think Alex actually enjoyed that - I was a blank slate for all his knowledge to be excitedly recited again. Growing up in Florida, I've encountered a lot of sports fans, but I've never met anyone else with such genuine passion for the craft, athleticism, and strategy of the games than Alex. We stayed in touch after I went off to college, texting about any big sports and pop culture happenings. 
    I'm working in the film industry now, which can sometimes get really hard, but the knowledge that there are people out there like Alex who have so much love for movies makes it all worth it. He never let the limitations of his body hold his mind back from indulging in the things he was passionate about, and I'm very grateful that I got to help him do that in my own small way. The rest of the credit of course goes to Mandy, Gary, and Adam - it's so fortunate that Alex was born into a loving family with the means to allow him to explore everything he was interested in. Much love and compassion for you all.
    Finally - I unfortunately couldn't find a photo of me and Alex in my personal camera roll, but check this out: last weekend I was at the Universal CityWalk and noticed that they had a Lids, which was always one of Alex's favorite stores whenever I would take him to the mall. I couldn't help but pop in, and noticed that they had the same LA Rams Super Bowl Champions hat that Alex had. So now I have one too, to remember him by.
