Alice Dolgin Furman died peacefully at age 91 on May 13, 2026 at Edgewater at Boca Pointe after a long illness. Alice was born and bred in Brooklyn, New York; graduated from SUNY New Paltz; and obtained Masters degrees both at NYU in Education and at CUNY in Social Work.
Working from age 15, Alice taught kindergarten and then supervised Early Childhood Programs in Brooklyn. While working as a social worker in a medical setting, she met and married Myron Dolgin who, like Alice, was outgoing and friendly. Myron had a tremendous sense of humor, but did not like ballroom dancing, which Alice loved!
Alice was recruited by CUNY as a Professor in the Behavioral Science Department, a position she held until Myron and she retired to Florida. Myron suffered two unrelated cancer surgeries and died in 2009. Alice worked part time as a teacher in a behavior modification program for obesity. The great passion of her senior years was ballroom dancing. Alice was for many years a devoted member of the well known Boca Raton dance group, the “Little Club.”
Alice is mourned by her paternal cousins Franki and Larry Wilson of Boca and her maternal cousins Wendy and Ricky Schneider of Boynton Beach. She will also be missed by longtime friends and students from Brooklyn and Boca - and especially by the “Little Club.”
A Funeral Service will be held at Star of David Memorial Chapel, Main Chapel, 7701 Bailey Road, North Lauderdale, FL 33068, US, on May 18, 2026 at 10:30 am.
