Beatrice Young (Bea), beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully at Merry Heart Assisted Living in Succasunna, NJ on Thursday, January 31st at the age of 86. Bea is preceded in death by her parents, Abraham and Leah Rosen, her sisters, Eleanor (Herbert) Romm and Laura (Jack) Katz, and her loving husband David Young, all a blessed memory. Bea is survived by her brother Shepherd (Mildred) Rosen, her children Brian (Janet) Young, Miriam (Jon) Clingman, grandchildren John (Julie) Bresset, Elisabeth (Karim) Bala, Aaron and Daniel Young, Leslie Hoffman, Sara and Matthew Clingman, great grandchildren Tyler and Adam Hoffman, John, Jianna and Jayna Bresset, and many nieces and nephews.
Bea was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY where she lived above her parent’s grocery store. She met her husband David and was married in 1950; they began their life together in an apartment in Kew Garden Hills, Queens, NY. They moved to East Brunswick, NJ in 1957 and then to Cranbury, NJ in 1980 when they became empty nesters. Bea enjoyed retirement in Tamarac, Florida, then moved back to New Jersey in 2007 due to health issues, and resided at Merry Heart Assisted Living up to her passing.
Bea worked many years at Johnson & Johnson as an administrative assistant, primarily in the Research & Development department, of the Baby Products Division. Many remember Bea for her great cooking; especially her potato knishes and Hungarian pastry (she even won an award for her pastry in the Middlesex County fair). Bea traveled the world and lived with her family in Israel for a year, was an avid mahjong and canasta player, and loved to dance. She realized her dream of going to Hawaii in 2003 with her daughter and family and made a trip back to Israel with her granddaughter Elisabeth in 1999.
Bea will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Her memories will live on in our hearts.
