I knew Mrs. Williams as my neighbor growing up in NY. For a little term in the mornings I would stay with her before going to school- she always thought I was too skinny and did her best to try to fatten me up before school by giving me any cereal I’d want from her kitchen and adding a little extra sugar to it for me! 

Mrs. Williams was a beautiful, kind, and warm spirit. May she rest and guide at peace.

Our condolences to the family with the loss of Hyacinth.  Gone but never far from our hearts. May fond memories bring you comfort during these difficult times.

I am grateful that Hyacinth and I crossed paths on this life journey. She was a beautiful soul and a dear friend.  I will forever cherish the memories of going to the theater, restaurants with our inner circle of five sisters who were brought together by fate or Divine Providence. I will miss our long distance phone communications, but I find comfort in the belief that our paths will cross again.
     May Vassel, Adele and Joan find comfort in knowing that I, along with many others, will be praying ,that in time, God will help you to get to a place of safety and peace.

Hyacinth  was part of a "like-minded " group of women at Springfield Gardens High School whose mission was to educate our students to become functioning members of society and to provide a better understanding of the world. Hyacinth did that and brought more to the table. Her personality and refined manner emphasized the importance of not only being educated but to be respectful and courteous. She radiated warmth and love. I am saddened by her homegoing but am proud to have known her. She was special....A JEWEL!!

Hyacinth Ross the friend I knew at St. Joseph’s Teachers College was a great success at school. She was a loving person who always tried to help others in need. After she got married to V, she was the same kind friend who had an interest in the affairs of others. In New York we continued being friends. She certainly will be missed by everyone who got to know her. God loved her best because she lived this life because of His grace and mercy. Now He sees that He is ready to put her to sleep. Let us not grieve as those who have no Hope because we think that we will see her again when Jesus returns. Have faith family.

V and Hyacinth came into our lives when we moved in as their new neighbors less than a year ago. They came over to bring flowers but I wasn't home. I immediately went over to thank them for the flowers and It was "friendship at first sight!!!! "We both had so much in common I couldn't believe it ( teaching, reading, traveling, eating, and last but not least a sincere love of God). 
I visited Hyacinth frequently when she was at home and every time I came she would try to sit up and would always, always, always smile and tell me how much she appreciated me, her friend. I remember once taking her a honey spoon stirrer for her tea because she wasn't eating, well she started eating it like a lollipop. I was like ok and we both started laughing.  I will truly miss my new friend but I'm so thankful that we had the time we shared.

I met my dear friend Hyacinth at Queens College and years later we ended up teaching together in the same school.  Hyacinth had many admirable qualities which set her apart from others.  She was a very devoted teacher who worked hard to have a positive impact on every student that she taught.  As a friend, she would always greet you with a hearty laugh and a hug.  She was a great encourager and always wished the best for everyone with whom she came in contact.  During our many chats we would reminisce on our life experiences and shared many laughs.  May she rest in peace.

Given condolences to the colleagues, friends, and church members who knew this spirit and especially to her family. I met Ms. Williams at Springfield Garden High School.  One of my most favorite memories of Ms Williams was when we were Diana Ross and the Supremes. The school was having some charity function and somehow they got us to do this. I was Diana, Ms Williams and Ms Baker-Simon were the Supremes, supposedly. At the end of our skit all three of us were fighting for Diana Ross’s mike. Because of course everybody wanted to be Diana. The crowd went wild at this and we had so much fun. And of course we raise a lot of money too. Until we meet again, rest in peace Hyacinth.

You are in my thoughts as you experience the passing of your wife and mother.  Hyacinth was a faithful member of the choir at Nazarene Congregational Church in Brooklyn, NY nearly 50 years ago. I can remember clearly her delight in singing the hymn “The Lord’s My Shepherd,” and can recall her lovely voice as if it was yesterday!

 It's been some years since we've seen  Hyacinth because we moved away, but when visiting St. Albans Church, we were always greeted  with kindness and the beautiful smile that we remembered from her.
