Isaac “Ike” Gabay of, Tamarac, FL, was born February 6, 1930, in the Bronx, NY to Albert and Mary Gabay. Ike is survived by his sons, Clifford, Alan, and Steven and his wife, Mary Anne, as well as his sister, Violet, who also resides in Florida. Ike’s wife Dorothy preceded him in death as did his brothers, Max and Ted.
Shortly after high school, Ike married the love of his life, Dorothy, in 1952. Their lives were blessed with three children, Clifford, Alan, and Steven. One of Ike’s greatest joys in life was his grandchildren; Adam and Noah were born to Steven and his wife, Mary Anne. As the family grew, so did the love. Ike shared the joy of seeing Adam marry Shelley, giving him another joy in an already full life.
Ike graduated high school in the Bronx and went to Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. After a few career changes, he became and then retired as a salesman from the John Hancock Life Insurance Company. He and Dorothy retired and moved to Tamarac in the 1990’s.
The most important thing to Ike his entire life was his immediate and extended family. On any holiday or special occasion, Dorothy would host a party for everybody, whether 5 people or 50 people. Ike was at his happiest when surrounded by relatives and those closest to him. He always had a game or trick to play with the children. The love he gave was returned by all.
After Dorothy’s passing, and after the pandemic, Ike met his neighbor, Cookie, who became his partner for the last four years of his life. After being married to Dorothy for 65 years, Cookie and Ike shared happiness in the final years of his life.
Ike will be remembered by all who were lucky enough to know him as friend and family.
