Jack Saltzman,100, of Sunrise, Florida, passed away on July 31, 2023. Born in New York City, he grew up the youngest of 7 siblings on a large dairy farm in Ringoes, NJ, until the family moved back to the City during the Great Depression.
In 1942, Jack enlisted in the Army Air Force and served in Norwich, England, as a radio operator, controlling bombardment divisions that strategically attacked enemy sites. He was honorably discharged from the military in 1945, and returned to New York City, where he met the love of his life, Norma Tobis. Jack and Norma were married in 1948, and later settled in West Long Branch, NJ, where they raised their children, Alan and Lori.
Jack was a master upholster, and owned Jack’s Auto Seat Covers in Eatontown, NJ, where he crafted auto seat covers, boat covers, awnings, etc. He later went on to work for Sears Roebuck as an automotive salesman. Upon retirement in the mid-1980s, the Saltzman couple moved to Sunrise, FL, along with Norma’s parents, Grace and David Tobis. Here they enjoyed many years spending time with family and traveling with friends.
Jack proudly served as the Building Captain at his condominium until his death. He was regarded as a diligent representative and will be remembered and honored with a chair bearing his name at the condominium meeting place.
He enjoyed driving around town, and spending time at the Gulfstream Racetrack with friends and family (especially his grandson-in-law, Namaan). His biggest joy in life was his family. His devotion to his family was beyond words as he lovingly cared for all.
