
Jeffrey Norman Stein was born on November 7, 1944 in Brooklyn New York to parents Bernice and Irving Stein.
Jeffrey attended Hewlett High School in Hewlett and graduated with honors at Queen College with science degree and graduated in 1967. He also received a MA in science . He edited and wrote two thesis including the Effects of the War Board s on American Education History and Modern Math Structures. He played semi-pro baseball for the Nassau Alliance.
Jeffrey went on to Columbia University for a specialist degree and he taught economics and social studies at Francis Lewis High School in Queens . He graduated with honors and a Scientific diploma and received numerous scholarships for math and science in the 1960’s.
In Florida in 1977, he decided to teach at the college Florida International University in the Math Department . His greatest pleasure was teaching high school students at American High and Jackson High Schools where he tutored as a volunteer to get Learning Disabled students through the High School Competency tests.
In 1980, he met his wife Judith Rosenberg Stein (who was the Assistant Principal ) and they married in 1981 and have been married for thirty-two years.
His greatest accomplishment has been his development and funding of a Study Room in the Archives of the Library at Quantico , VA, for his father Technical Sargent Irving Stein who was a Presidential Citation winner in World War Two, where his room is on the second floor by the Hall of the Commandants. This room is used by young Sargent’s who will be deployed to Afghanistan. He is survived by his beloved wife , his third Royal Standard Poodle and his sister Joan Smith. He also has a stepson Eric Lefkowitz and his two boys –Dylan and Myles. He will be sorely missed.
He also pays tribute the VIP Care Pavilion where he spent two years with a loyal Care Nurse Shena Mendez.
Cindy his friend said the following: “Precious one, you know that I’m lifting Jeffrey up in this latest challenge that you face. But as with all of those challenges that have gone past and all those that the future may hold, in this moment and every other you are in my thoughts and prayers – but more importantly – you are both in the loving care of our Lord… today and ALWAYS!!
Asking Him now to blanket you both with much peace and enfold you with much comfort in coverings woven from His mercy and love for all eternity. Rest in Peace. “
