So Thursday Nov.23rd2017 Thanksgiving this is the 6th Thanksgiving without you with us...
that part of me about being Thankful well I can't thank G-d for what he has done to you and us, how do you say thank you for that? My favorite holiday ...Well I will say this I am grateful, grateful that I was given you and Dana. That I got to be home with you guys when you were babies all the way up to you two being in school and still having my own shop I was able to come and go and be there for all your school activities. Your sister has really kept dad and me hanging in there. I hope you you whisper in her ear or go to her in a dream and guide her to some happiness. we miss you so very much and would give anything in the world to have you back here with us.

My heart is aching from the anniversary of your accident, you leaving us and  the day we laid you to rest. Three years? !  Seems so long ago yet like it was yesterday. We celebrated at your home Labor Day. So many people, both friends and family, who love and miss you so very much. Now the holidays are upon us and your absence with again be felt. Oh Josh - you should be here with us. I will never understand how someone like you was called by G-d so early in your life. :(  you had so much more to give to this world. I love you always and forever. I miss you with all my heart.

I have wondered about the Schwabenbauer family many times over the years. I have just found out about the loss of Joshua. I fondly remember being one of his first babysitters after meeting his mom at the grocery store while standing in line to check out. Those big blue eyes melted me. And, Dana, my how your brother looked after you even at the young age when you came into the family. Know that Joshua and all of the family will be forever in my prayers.

on our 2 years without you here on earth with us, I do my best to honor my son.
You are proud of me I know... I have lost 25 lbs and will start working out shortly. You were my motivation, you and Dana are my motivation for living as best I can. Your "MARKER" although so late is almost done... The second hardest thing I had to do.
So many people still go there to you, leave you gifts, letters and just to let you know you will never be forgotten..
Please go to your sister and make her hear you tell her TO LIVE LIFE not to just mourn your not being here, For you were and ARE the only one that pushes her ... You are so amazed I am sure at how this kid can work out.... yep that's your sister...

I do know that you are loved so much it hurts.

Unfortunately since you have been taken from your loved ones, they suffer every minute of every day. It has now been 2 years since you left us and it seems just like we got the dreaded call about your accident 1 minute ago.

I wish I could help ease even a little of the pain for your family and close friends. It's hard to move on!! I know you would be really upset that they are not living and some how finding a laugh here and there. I pray that your light will inspire them that you gave your last gift of life to save lives.
 
That my other son is the unselfish hero I know and will motivate me to live my life to the fullest because as we know, who knows how long we have on this earth. You my handsome, sweet, loving man I know you are with us in so many ways. You deserved the love of all of us that suffer you not being here with us. I especially pray for healing of some kind for your Mummy, your Sister, your Dad, your Family and the undying love of my daughter. Grief never goes away from us when we love so deeply, there is no quick fix for our loss of you Josh. 

I love you Josh and will always remember our vacations together and always, you always making people laugh. Especially when you wore that speedo to Shayna's Halloween Birthday party. We are all trying to be strong but your departure left a huge hole in in our heart and souls. May you rest in peace beautiful man!

I can't get you out of my head...the pain in my heart for your family and girlfriend is so intense. One thing is certain, there is no shortage of love and kindness where you're concerned. Rest easy, josh.

My little buck. My son  just 1 yr ago seems like yesterday   you sent ur last txt at 10:22 while on shift.  I hear you man  who meds it.   It was fun talking to you that nite and I was lookin forward to seeing you Tuesday when u were on the beach. Such is life  instead I saw u on life support preparing for your final destination heaven I know  while still helping others with you perfect  heart and other organs.  So many people miss you   Jeez josh. This really sucks  I think of you each day see your pictures your smirk  your wit and ability to see thru the phonies   I know you on the other side now you are probably the mayor there too my beautiful son. I miss u so much we are truly inconsolable always will be. I hope that you have found nirvana and look as Hanson and beautiful the day I saw u last. I look forward to seeing you then  can't wait to tell u hello sonny boy. I really missed you. I live you josh. Pops

Keats reminds me of Dana seeing the shooting star last year. You know, I once heard that upon death, nothing ever really dies, it just changes form. There's no way Josh's beauty and wisdom has been erased. Firstly, Josh lives in his family and friends. Secondly, Josh's spirit, his neshama, is bright like the star Keats writes of. I suspect that if we all looked to the stars this week, we would see many shooting stars.

Wednesday August 27th 2012 was the last time you got to come home to the house you grew up in. To open the door and see your cats and dogs and your mummy.If I knew then it was to be the last time I saw your beautiful face, your gorgous sparkling blue eyes.. well I always told you always tell my children I LOVE YOU always... I would sit here at the kitchen table and we talked, laughed and you shared beautiful stories with me of your trip to Israel. Your trip to Costa Rica, you shared secrets with me Joshua that I never told to anyone..You confided in me when things bothered you . 
what a wonderful young man you became. I could not be prouder of you ... I shall miss you forever and ache to see you, touch you, feel you hug me back and to hear you say I LOVE YOU MUMMY... your cards I shall miss..

Joshua, it's me Ant Bryna. Last month (April) we had so many functions we attended.  Heartbreaking to know the reason we were there...because you are not here :(   All the families and friends remembering their loved ones by smiling, laughing, crying and telling stories. Sometimes i might be just sitting, not even thinking, and the tears just start. We went to the Donor and Receipiants Luncheon.  Listening to the guest speakers.  One young lady who received a pancreas and a kidney. How her world changed because of a Donor. Then the mother of a boy donor who gave five organs. Her words tore at our hearts and brought tears to our eyes. But his family was very proud that he can live on by giving someone else a life to live.  Then there was the Rabbi whose daughter was a donor. After a few years they got to meet the woman who received their daughter's heart. The mother laid her head on the woman's chest. Even though it was an emotional meeting, between her tears, she smiled cause she was hearing her daughter's heart beat and knew her daughter lived on. I know Mommy, Dad and your sister hope some day they can meet the young woman who received your precious, kind=hearted, caring, LOVING heart.  It will be bittersweet, I am sure. I think about you all the time.  When I do, i kiss the bracelet that was given to me "from you" after you left. My heart is so broken that I won't see you again until we meet in Heaven. Take care of Grandpa Red. Look down at all your family and friends and watch over us. Until we meet again...Ilove you. Ant Bryna

I was reminded that today is six months since we had to say our final goodbyes to  you. As i type this note to you, the tears block what I am writing. Oh Joshua, this is still so unreal!  We are all trying to continue on and live  each day to the fullest just like you. Some of us are accomplishing this, but not I :(  I guess I have to try even harder and harder each day. John Edwards channeled into you when Dana and I went to see him.. He told us you told him YOU ARE OK MOM... you are hanging with Michael Dana's friends brother and Grandpa RED.. HE knew you donated your organs except for one that has 2 YOUR LUNGS.. and he told Dana to stay on track to Focus and we knew this was all coming from you .. FOR HOW ELSE COULD HE HAVE KNOWN THIS stuFF and more.. it gave me some peace to hear some of this ... IT has not Put me to peace because there is no true peace while missing someone so important in all our lives..

Hey Josh.  Yesterday me, mommy and grandma went to visit you. I guess it is true when they say "you were not there":(
I looked at your resting place, with the notes and flowers and rocks that people have left there. So many showing their love for you and how they miss you and what an impact you had in so many lives.  I turned away crying and just kept wondering how did this happen, why did this happen? Of course there are no answers but we still ask.  In 17 more days our birthdays will be here. It will be bittersweet. I will celebrate mine because I am here but I will also celebrate yours cause that was the best gift my sister gave me. My Godson for my birthday :)  Sure beats a free breakfast. I know you are with me in your own special way.  I can feel it.  You have visited with me and have said it is for a brief time and that you have to continue on to others.  You made such a huge impact on your family's life and so many others.  We ask ourselves daily, why take Josh?  I can't speak for others but I still don't have an answer.  Maybe there will never be an answer.  Just know you are missed and loved by so many!!!

To Joshua in Heaven, though we didn't get the opportunity to meet you, we do feel that we know you through our friendship with your Mother.  We heard all about you and the wonderful contributions you made to your family, friends and others in this world. Josh..your face and spirit cross my mind each and everyday.  I am so happy to see that this site is here forever. It is a way for me to express my thoughts.  Those of us that knew you are so BLESSED to have a part of your life.

NO words from a mother can express the feelings of losing a child... the first child you have held in your hand and cared for and watch grow... I know fire school was a long time ago, and like your Lt said at your memorial '' It is easier to have a ugly sister in the fire service than to have a beautiful one"  I burst out laughing because i remember when rob and i always joked on you about how we wanted to date your sis!  Im going to miss that.  No worries now your sis has a family of hundreds of brothers to look after her!  it will take all of us to fill your shoes.  Love you man.  p.s. Rob looked to see if there was a lauderhill rescue truck when he pulled into the hospital to drop off a patient thinking he was going to see you. Then it hit him again that you moved on. see you again my friend!

TO Josh and family, I never met you Josh, but my son Kurt, was one of your close friends. He spoke of you as a good friend and buddy who was glad to have you as a friend and fellow firefighter. He knew you before the academy as a friend and I hope for your family, as we all try to grasp your death, that you know how much you were greatly appreciated by the people you served in Lauderhill. To your mom and dad...we pray everyday that our children are not taken from us unexpectedly and those who have sons and daughters who serve as firefighters and paramedics and police keep a special vigil everyday as we here the sirens go by. God Bless You and know that josh gave the ultimate sacrifice of his life but ended up giving the ultimate gift of life to others who received his organs. There is no greater love...be proud and strong as you grieve and remember he rests in peace in Gods arms now. God Bless You, Kim Ochipa

By now you have met my brother. I feel very blessed that I had a great day with you and the crew at St. 110 on Sunday. As with my brother and a few other Firefighters who by now have embraced you. I will always hold you in my heart as close as I hold them. I wish nothing but the very best for your family, friends and all of us who are your forever brothers and sisters. Josh, this isn't Goodbye, it's only until we meet again.

I did not know Josh personally,  but I was deeply saddened by his passing.   My son-in-law, Ilan Berkowitz, is a firefighter in Lauderhill.   Everyone who knew Josh was so blessed to have him in their lives.   I have heard and read such beautiful tributes about Josh.   His final act of contributing his organs so others could live is a testament to his character and his love of others.   He lived his adult life saving people and putting their safety above his own.   Josh was a unique person and a son, sibling, friend everyone was proud of and cherished having in their lives.  He will be sorely missed by everyone who's lives he touched.  His brothers and sisters in the Lauderhill Fire Department will keep him in their hearts forever.
