Lawrence "Larry" Jon Barden

Lawrence (Larry) Jon Barden age 75 passed away May 7, 2022, Davie, FL. Lawrence was born 12/10/46 in Brooklyn, NY to Benedict and Anita Barden. He was raised in Long Island, NY. He received his BS in Commerce from Rider College, Lawrenceville, NJ, in 1969. He was a member of the Men's Lacrosse Club and Wrestling Club and belonged to the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity and the Davie Moose Lodge #1798. Lawrence was a certified Purchasing Manager and a Certified Public Procurement Officer. Over the span of his 45-year career in the field of purchasing, he loved helping others learn the profession, taking many under his wing as a mentor and often being invited to lecture. His career included Bechtel Power, Houston, Tx; Alenco, Bryan, Tx; and he retired from the Broward County Purchasing division in 2008. Lawrence is survived by his daughter Lisa (Alan) Thompson, a stepson Stuart Derek Pomeranz, two granddaughters Emma and Olivia Thompson, Madison, FL and a brother Mitchell S. Barden, NC. He also is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lawrence was a devoted, proud, supportive, and loving father and grandfather. He doted on Pepper, his Yorkshire terrier, who he jokingly called his second daughter. He was an avid Dodgers fan even after they moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles. He will be remembered for his honesty, loyalty, wisdom, strength of character, unique quirks, and an unforgettable belly laugh. A memorial service will be held at the Star of David, 7701 Bailey Rd, North Fort Lauderdale, FL on Sunday June 5th, 2022 at 10:30 AM.
