Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Lesley was a curious child who developed a love for dancing, art, music, theatre, and storytelling. Her family moved to South Florida in 1960 where she attended Olsen Junior High, South Broward High School and ultimately the University of Miami. Along the way, she had many adventures including playing guitar as a proud member of Florida’s first all-female rock and roll band, “Beethoven’s 5th” and winning the titular role in a University of Miami production of Romeo and Juliet. Lesley studied education and discovered her true calling through her career as an elementary school teacher. She specialized in writing, and enriched the lives of countless students over the course of several decades.
Lesley is survived by her devoted family. She leaves behind two loving sons: Seth Levit (married to Mary Anne) and Johnny Moniz, as well as three cherished grandchildren: Reanne, Braddock, and Anatolia.
Lesley is also survived by her brother, Robert Kluchin (married to Judy Allen), her sister, Joan Klickstein (married to Bud), nieces Rebecca Kluchin (married to Brian Warhold), Abigail Kluchin (married to Patrick Blanchfield), Dana Knapp (married to Chris), and Sandy Edo (married to Ralph).
Funeral services honoring Lesley's life and legacy will be held at the Star of David Cemetery and Memorial Gardens at 7701 Bailey Road, North Lauderdale, FL 33068 on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 in the Chapel beginning at 10:30 am.
