La Shana Tova Marty - you are inscribed in the book of life.  rIP my friend

I was Marty's teacher at C. Columbus High School in the 1970's.  About three years ago, he tracked me down on Facebook and we reconnected. He contacted me a few months ago from his hospital in Pennsylvania.  I was sorry to hear the news, but not as sorry as I am today.  Marty, I'm older than dirt, surely we'll meet again in another time, another place.  Gone away, but not forgotten.

Marty a friend is never lost. He remains alive in the memories shared and experiences created. You made my time at NYSDTF a truly unique place. Play that funky music white boy. With deepest condolences to your family .

Marty, your passion for different cultures, music, art, food dance, literature, etc... was an inspiration to those around you. Thank you for sharing your kind & beautiful soul with all. Keep shining your light down on us from the heavens.

Marty was one of the few people who was genuinely caring of others. My deepest condolences to Mrs. Peck.

I met Marty thru my brother Mike, and found him to be a genuinely nice person with a big heart. I enjoyed our conversations about the Beatles, old TV shows, and life in general. Very sad to hear of this loss and way too young an age.

I met Marty in college in the 1970's in The Bronx NYC. We spent a lot of time together in person when I lived in NY and on the phone when I moved to California.
Marty introduced me to foreign culture, language and shortwave radio. These, without a doubt, profoundly influenced the road I ended up taking in life. I am not sure how my life would have ended up if I had not met him over 40 years ago.
When I think of him and my life, I think of "the Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost.
Truly, your legacy lives in my heart until the day I die.

Martin, we are all better in the SWL Community for having known you. I will miss you and the conversations we used to have. RIP dear friend!

Marty, I knew you for only a year or so. Met you at the SWL 2014 Fest. Couldn't have been any luckier! I will sorely miss the conversations we had and you sharing all that really unique music you loved! I hope the DX is loud and clear up there my friend. I'm dedicating tonight's broadcast to you.

I knew Martin for over 20 years, ever since I attended my first Winter SWL Fest. Martin and others made me feel welcome, and he always had a great love of radio, music, world cultures, and people in general. We'll all miss you..."live long and prosper" in your new life!

I will miss you for the rest of my life.  I am going to keep your memories alive. The world lost a unique man, who most generously and enthusiastically shared with all he knew. RIP and perhaps we will met again.  Entertain the departed with your music, teach them your vast knowledge of world culture and languages, and eat and drink the exotic foods that make you a very special person.

Only the good die young is not a cliche.

I first met Martin many years ago at the annual Winter SWL Festival.  We kept in touch mainly through phone calls over the years and at subsequent SWL Fests.  Martin had an incredible knowledge of music and often contributed those skills at the annual SWL Fest.   It was a pleasure to know him.   I, and other regular FEST attendees, will miss him.  Rest in peace my friend.

Martin was a good friend we met at many SWL fests and some times we met when we were both in Florida We would talk on the phone often   He will be missed

It was an honor to know Martin. We met first time 20 years ago at the SWL Fest. His knowledge was vast, e.g. of folk music, he knew much also about Finnish folk music, could sing rhymes in Finnish and also spoke some words of our language. We miss him.

Martin always had a smile when he was at the SWL Winter Fest; his enthusiasm was infectious and he always had a kind word.  He is indeed missed by his radio friends.

I knew Martin - many years ago, from the Boston shortwave group.   Occasionally I'd get a courtesy call from him.

I talked with Martin many times over many years at the Winter SWL Festival. I loved when he shared examples of various ethnic music through his Facebook postings. His knowledge of languages and customs of people and places around the world was amazing. He shared a common passion for radio with so many of us in the radio monitoring hobby. He is certainly remembered fondly by all of us. On behalf of the members of the Canadian International DX Club, I extend our sincere condolences to Marty's family and friends.

Every time I saw Marty or heard him play, I was amazed at his language skills and his ability to play instruments and recreate sounds he only heard once. My condolences to his family and friends.

My condolences to Martins family. I have know Martin for many years as a faithful participant of the SWL Winterfest. His knowledge of interval signals and musical reproduction of sed was impressive and entertaining. His unique talents will be missed

I always enjoyed talking ethnic food with Marty at the Winter SWL Fest--I would have loved to go on an ethnic restaurant crawl with him. A kind and gentle man.

I enjoyed talking with Marty at the Shortwave Listeners Festivals about different music, etc.  He loved to share what he knew and his knowledge of so many different cultures and languages was amazing.  A very bright man who will be missed.
