

Richard Lawrence Rosenbaum, 67, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, peacefully passed away on March 3, 2026 at 4:59 p.m. with his son and daughter-in-law by his side, after a long battle with cancer.
A respected South Florida criminal defense attorney, former collegiate swimmer, and devoted father, Richard lived a life defined by determination, intellectual discipline, and fierce advocacy for those he represented.

Richard will be laid to rest beside his daughter, Lindsey Jo Rosenbaum, whose memory remained deeply important to him.

Richard was born in Iowa City, Iowa, and grew up in South Bend, Indiana, where he developed into an accomplished competitive swimmer. His success in the pool led him to compete collegiately for both Duke University and the University of Florida. The discipline and resilience he developed as an athlete remained defining traits throughout his life.
He later built a distinguished legal career in South Florida as a criminal defense attorney, eventually founding the Law Offices of Richard L. Rosenbaum. Over decades of practice, he earned a reputation as a formidable courtroom advocate known for his sharp legal mind, independence of thought, and unwavering commitment to defending the rights of his clients.
Outside the courtroom, Richard was a simple and relaxed man who valued time with the people he cared about. He enjoyed good meals with friends and family, watching sports, and making his annual trip to South Haven, Indiana, where he could often be found relaxing in a rocker on the porch or sitting peacefully by the lake.
Richard is survived by his father, Charles “Chuck” Rosenbaum (Mona Medow); his son, Ryan Rosenbaum (Kahlia Warner); his sister, Heidi Jurish (Ken); his stepsisters, Dana Garfin and Renee Garfin; and his aunt and uncle, Don and Margo Blumenthal, along with their daughter, Joscelyn Blumenthal.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lindsey Jo Rosenbaum, and his mother, Gayle Rosenbaum.
Those who knew Richard will remember a man of conviction, intelligence, and quiet appreciation for life’s simple moments.
