Freddie Mae Waddington, 103 years of age, faithful christian, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026. She was born February 22, 1922, in Bald Knob, Arkansas to Fred W Proctor and Mae B Crain. Raised on a small family farm, Freddie learned early the importance of discipline, industry and teamwork, character traits that she retained throughout her long life, traits that helped her to become the exceptional and beloved wife, mother, Nana, great grandmother and dear friend to many that she was. As a young mother with three sons, one with special needs, she leaned on those early life lessons to insure her family received the attention, love and guidance they needed. None missed a swim practice, baseball game or therapy appointment, in spite of how difficult and trying it was at times. Freddie was a loving partner upon whom Jim could depend for so many years. She was always at his side when needed and frequently traveled with him to business conventions and co-hosted many customer gatherings. Freddie was a person of great respect among her extended family and friends. She was a caring friend to many throughout her life and received their love and devotion in return. A lifelong advocate for the disabled, she served as a very active board member for numerous community organizations committed to improved educational and living opportunities for the disabled. Son, David was an initial resident of Arkansas Children’s Colony in Conway and subsequently became a resident of other community facilities provided for the enrichment of the lives of the disabled. Freddie was an important part of bringing those facilities to fruition. Later in life she was fortunate to take her only job outside of the home at the Arkansas Department of Heritage and made new friends she retained for the remainder of her life.
Freddie is preceded in death by her husband, James B. Waddington; her parents, Fred and Mae Proctor; brothers, Paul Proctor and Lindbergh McDonald; and special nieces, Peggy and Patty Tancill.
Loved ones left behind to cherish her memory are, sons, James (Carolyn), Mickey (Harriet); mom’s special angel, David; Grandsons, Hugh Waddington (Jodi), Heath Waddington (Leyla); cherished great granddaughters, Jocie and Jolee Waddington and adored nieces Paula Bradley and Pam Jones.
A Graveside Service celebrating Freddie Mae Waddington’s life will be held Friday, February 27, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Pinecrest Memorial Park, 7401 Hwy 5 N, Alexander, AR, 72002.
