Marilyn Elaine Johnson, age 88, of Sherwood, AR passed away on May 3, 2025, peacefully in Cabot Arkansas. She was born on July 27, 1936, in Newberry Ohio to the late Dale Robert Slade and Dorothy Rhea Lacey Slade. Marilyn professed Jesus as her Savior and was a faithful attendee of the Little Rock AFB Chapel and the Wayside Chapel in Dayton Ohio when visiting back home.
Marilyn grew up in Covington, Ohio where she attended school and loved sports of all sorts. After graduating High School Marilyn set out to conquer the world.
Marilyn was an “Airmen” for over 49 years working side by side with the members of the United States Air Force as a Civil Servant. She earned the nickname “Air Mare” from those in Operations community and was presented her own flight suit which she wore proudly. She won the hearts of those in Special Tactics as she was sometimes tougher than any Drill Sergeant could ever think about being. She “completed” her Air Force career in the 19th Logistic Readiness Squadron in 2009 but continue to serve as a volunteer across many of Little Rock AFB’s helping agencies. She built a wonderful life and always will be cherished by those who knew and loved her. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it (whether they knew they needed it or not).
To cherish the many wonderful memories, she leaves behind her brother Lawrence “Larry” Ross Slade of Sacramento California, her very special friends Margia Burkhardt of Medway Ohio, Ladies of the Thrift Shop on Little Rock AFB, Team “MJ” and numerous friends across the world as the fellow Airmen she devoted her life to relocated.
Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her precious daughter, whom she missed dearly Christina M. “Chuck” Johnson; sisters Beverly Ann Eisaman, Doris Jane Hardwick; and brother Norman Lowell Slade.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Graveside Service is scheduled for Friday May 9, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Memorial Park, 7724 Landers Road North Little Rock, AR, with Monroe Flucas Jr. officiating.
