Mary Compton Holland

Mary Emily Compton Holland entered her Heavenly Father's eternal home on April 19, 2015 at Robinson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The daughter of James Robert and Cora Compton, Emily was born on October 24, 1914 in Nashville, Arkansas. Emily received her Registered Nurse's degree from Arkansas Baptist School of Nursing in 1938. She was the Supervisor for the medical wards at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Little Rock at the time of her retirement. Emily's life was focused around her love for and devotion to God and her family. Affectionately known as "Miss Emily," she was an active member of Park Hill Baptist Church. A faithful member of the choir, she participated in musical dramas, played in the ukulele band, taught Sunday School, and volunteered in countless roles in which she ministered to others. She graciously provided transportation, delivered meals, read to blind patients, monitored blood pressures, and gave private duty nursing care to elderly friends after her retirement. Emily was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Neuman Compton, Wendell Compton, Cue Whaley, Deronda Clowers, and Irene McLemore. She is survived by daughters, Jo Roberts of North Little Rock, and Nancy Daily and her husband, Herb, of Arkadelphia, granddaughters, Cindy Swint, and husband, Tony, Paige Beck, and husband, Brian, Ashli Francis and husband, Shawn, great grandsons, Chandler and Cole Francis, Jake Beck, great granddaughter, Morgan Beck, one brother, James Robert Compton Jr., and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the staff at Robinson Nursing and Rehabilitation for their dedication and compassionate care for Emily. Visitation will be held at Griffin Leggett Funeral Home on Landers Road in North Little Rock on Tuesday, April 21st, 2015 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Nashville, Arkansas on Wednesday, April 22nd, 2015 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Park Hill Baptist Church, 201 East "C" St. , North Little Rock, 72116.
