Pat would tell you the most important thing she did was to care for her family and home but the importance of her love and compassion for others goes far beyond that.
Pat was a dedicated Army wife, traveling wherever and whenever Jim was called during his 22 years of service. Pat held various professional positions herself, retiring as the Activity Director for Sherwood Nursing and Rehabilitation. Pat was an active volunteer, serving the NCO Wives Club, Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce, and local schools. She loved to play volleyball, bowl, and play Canasta and Pinochle with other retired friends. Later, Pat enjoyed playing cards at Jacksonville Senior Center. Pat was a dedicated member of Briarwood Baptist Church in Cabot, AR and loved her church family immensely. Her portrayal of “Mrs. Briarwood” was an Oscar worthy performance and your heart was better off having the chance to see her in action and sharing her love for Jesus! From her days at Briarwood, came many close friendships, especially a beautiful group of women who visited with mom and became known as the “Puzzles with Pat” group.
Mom loved music and loved to sing and dance. In fact, she even won a few “twisting” competitions in her time! Mom had a great love for all genres of music and used her voice in many church choirs and community groups; however, the most precious things she used her voice for were singing to Jesus and soothing (and entertaining) her babies. Watching Jim and Pat dance together, hearing them sing silly songs to each other, and passing on an appreciation for “the good stuff” is something all of her family will cherish.
Pat was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, (retired) SFC James Franklin Friedline and her middle daughter, Brenda Kay. Also running into Pat’s arms is her infant granddaughter, Danielle Marie Walton. Pat is standing in the heavenly presence of her precious mother, Lillian Irene and her fathers Charles Decker and Joseph Clinard. She was also greeted by her beloved brothers Bob and Nelson Decker and Connie and Freddy Clinard as well as her sweet sister Virginia(Decker) Magnuson. Many other family members and friends went ahead of her and are so happy to see her again!
Pat was so loved and will be terribly missed by her daughters, Cindy Walton and Annamarie Underwood (Darren). Her loving sister Doris Neihouse (John) of Central City will miss her deeply, too. She leaves cherished memories to her grandchildren: Shanity Childers, Joseph Walton, Reece Childers (Jody), Katy Walton (Whitney),Victoria Underwood (Cody), Ashley Underwood Wade (Thomas), Ross Underwood, Sarah Underwood, Shaileigh Pettingill, Gracie Underwood, and Breylin Jefferson. Great-grandchildren left to continue the legacy of love and laughter include Tatum Walton, Hailey Cross,James Childers, Isaac and Fox Wade, Emmy Sue Underwood, and Holden Simmons. Pat is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins, and other extended family members she loved deeply. Military friends, church friends, work friends…she loved you all so very much, too!
The family would like to thank the wonderful team at Arkansas Hospice for their kindness and care over the past few weeks.
… “she loved, more than anything else, she loved…”
Memorials may be made to Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
