Vicki June Smith of Cabot Arkansas, passed away on March 23rd, peacefully at the age of 75 after a long progressive decline due to Alzheimers. Vicki is survived by her loving, devoted husband and soul mate, Phillip D. Smith. Phillip was her caregiver for the last ten years. Vicki is predeceased by her mother, Ann Montgomery and son, David Smith. She is survived by her sister Sheryl Norwood, her brother Joel Norwood her daughter, Niki Wass, her son in law Ken Wass, daughter-in law Joy Smith and five fabulous grandchildren: Christine Wass, Ryan Wass, Jessica Wass, Faith Smith and Grace Smith.
Vicki was born in Malvern Arkansas to Martha Ann Montgomery and Rueben E. Norwood in 1946. Vicki received her BSBA and MBA from the University of Arkansas in 1984 and received further certifications in the banking industry as a Certified Regulation Compliance Manager. She was actively involved as the President of the Board of Habitat for Humanity of Central Arkansas and participated in the First Ladies Build and many Tuxes and Toolbelts fundraisers.
Vicki loved music and gardening and her work with the community and the bank. Her best feature was her constant smile, everywhere, all the time; a kind, happy smile. She was a peacemaker, a pacifier, and a soother. She was a soprano, and when she sang in church it was like a little bird, clear and sweet. She knew all the words to the old southern Baptist hymns, and she sang everyone single one of them all the time, even to the very end, when the only words that would come out were LaLaLa.
A funeral service is schedule for 1:00 (services begin at 1:30) on Saturday April 3rd, at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home in Sherwood Arkansas. Donations can be made to Habitat for Humanity of Central Arkansas, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
