Dr. Frederick Blumenthal has been reunited with his wife, his love, his forever partner; he passed at his home on March 30, 2021, in his bed, with his big screen on! He has battled Parkinson's for 15 years, coming home from the hospital and hanging tough, against just about all odds, after a devastating bout with pneumonia in September, 2019. Dad/Grandpa/Great Grandpa/Doc decided it was time. . .he had been separated from Evie long enough! Born on February 19, 1935 to Irving and Mina Blumenthal in Brooklyn, NY, and moving to Miami Beach when he was 10. In 1961, after his military service in El Paso, Texas, he, Evie, big brother Steven and infant, Mindy made their way to Hollywood, Florida, where Fred set up and pursued an exceptional service to the community in dentistry; and where the final piece to the family, Debbi, was born. Generations of families actually loved going to the dentist. . .yup, that's just what Dr. Fred/Dr. B was able to do for his patients. And as much as Fred enjoyed the pursuit of excellence in his profession, his true passion, calling was creating, loving and protecting his family! Anybody that knows Fred will remember his larger than life, big barrel chested approach to taking care of those he loved. From dealing with the variety of medical issues that may come up, to challenging "bad calls" at his children's and grandchildren's sporting events, Fred was there and always ready for the battle. He showcased his commitment to his chosen profession by being one of the original leaders in developing procedures for the management of myofascial pain, as well as his leadership on the dental board. He was a passionate advocate for his temple, serving as President for years. But the unmistakable hallmark of Dr. Frederick Blumenthal's legacy is his family. And so, as Dad and Mom would have it, fiercely loving and protecting each other, we will carry on. . .his younger brothers, Uncle Gabie/Aunt Susie and Uncle Mannie; his children, Steven, Mindy/David Powers, Debbi/Artie Scheinert; his grandchildren, Jordan, Coby, Tyler, and Spencer; and his great grandchildren, Naftali and Tiferet. . .who Mom/Grandma/GG'ma, Evie, will finally get to know!
Fred will be laid to rest, forever peacefully, next to his wife for forever, Evie, at noon on Wednesday, April 7th. There will be a graveside service at Mount Sinai Memorial Park Cemetery, 1125 NW 137th St, Miami, 33168; or you can attend by Zoom https://zoom.us/j/93505236997?pwd=qd0TR2
