Henry “Hank” Edgar Landy, beloved father, grandfather, and longtime Miami resident, passed away peacefully at his home on December 4, 2025, at the age of 95. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Hank was the cherished son of David Bernard and Irene (née Okyen) Landy. A genuine Baltimorean at heart, he grew up in a warm, close-knit family alongside his sisters, Hermine (Rita) and Elaine. His parents and sisters profoundly shaped his character, instilling in him the values of integrity, curiosity, and devotion to family—bonds that endured throughout their lives.
Hank graduated from Baltimore City College in 1948 and continued his education at Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College), laying the foundation for a life defined by learning, loyalty, and his love for sports—especially his Baltimore Colts.
In Baltimore, Hank met and married the love of his life, Sandra (“Sandy”) Dolores Dahne, on November 30, 1958. Together they shared nearly 50 years of marriage until Sandy’s passing in 2007, raising three sons in a home filled with laughter, love, and strong family values. They settled in Miami in the early 1960s, with a brief interlude in California, and became pillars of the Jewish and civic community.
Hank will always be remembered for his warmth, humor, and signature optimism—everything was always “Marvelous!” He delighted in simple pleasures, especially fishing behind his home at Snapper Creek Park, where in the 1970s he famously reeled in a 21-pound tarpon—a story he loved to share for decades. Even in his later years, Hank remained active and vibrant, embracing life with energy and grace well into his nineties.
Hank was profoundly proud of his Jewish heritage and deeply committed to community life. In honor of his mother’s memory, Hank and Sandy donated a five-foot brass menorah to Temple Zion Israelite Center, later finding a permanent home at the Sanford L. Ziff Jewish Museum of Florida, where it continues to shine as a symbol of their generosity and devotion to tradition. His many acts of kindness resonated throughout the Miami Jewish community and beyond.
Above all, Hank’s greatest joy was his family. He leaves behind his sons and daughters-in-law—Marc and Judy, Richard and Lauren, David and Melissa—and his five treasured grandchildren: Jacob, Daniel, Adam, Max, and Jenna, together with extended family and many cherished friends whose lives were touched by his kindness and grace. His memory—blessed, joyful, and “Marvelous” to all who knew him—will endure for generations.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Sunday, December 7, at Mount Nebo Kendall Memorial Gardens, 5900 SW 77th Ave, Miami, FL, where Hank will be laid to rest beside his beloved Sandy. Following the service, the family will gather in mourning (shiva) at the home of his son David, 6803 SW 145th Terrace, Palmetto Bay, FL.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Hank to the American Cancer Society, as was Sandy’s wish, or a charity of choice, honoring his lifelong spirit of generosity and care for others.
