Melvin (“Mel”) J. Jacobowitz, almost 100 years old, died on January 31, 2025. He lived a long and full life. He was married to Charlotte, who survives him, for over 70 years. He was surrounded by women and girls, between Charlotte, his two daughters, Janet (Jeff) Ostroff and Amy (Joe) Dashiell, four granddaughters, Allie, Jordyn, Jaime and Robyn, three great granddaughters, Rayanna, Ada and Juniper, and (finally!) a boy, his great grandson, Waylon. Mel was passionate about his family, tax law, skiing, travel, art, and for most of his life, music… primarily jazz, but in the last few months of his life, he unexpectedly turned his attention to rock and roll. He loved playing the clarinet and practiced three times a day. More than anything, Mel appreciated that he had the capacity to enjoy all of the above to the very end. He was a life-long learner and an inspiration to all of his family, friends and colleagues.
