With profound sadness, we mourn the passing of Jaccine Bernadin, loving mother and friend. Jaccine, Jackie as we lovingly call her, went to be with the Lord on July 23, 2020, after a prolonged and debilitating illness that she fought with great courage.
Jaccine Rose Marie Bernadin was born on November 8, 1936 in Limonade, Haiti. She was the second of seven children, born to Destilia Dazile and Bernard Bernadin. She spent her youth between Bord de Mer de Limonade and Cap -Haitien where she attended vocational culinary art school. Wanting to provide a better life for her children, she traveled to the Bahamas and eventually settled in Brooklyn, New York, where she worked as a caregiver for many years.
Jackie was a wonderful person, a remarkable woman, and a dedicated mother. She stood with courage to meet the responsibilities that fell upon her and sacrificed everything for her children. She was a great homemaker and an excellent cook. Her favorite pastime was listening to Haitian Christian radio talk shows. She was well informed and very resourceful. Jackie was mostly known for her tenacity, and her genuine love for her family and the Catholic faith.
Jackie was dearly loved and survived by her siblings Lucienne, Marguerite, and Georges; her children Elsie, Francis, Jeanette, and Frantz; her grandchildren Jacqueline, Kevin, Steven, Ricardo, Dudline, Alden, Killian, and Declan; her great grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jackie, we are thankful for the love you have shown us and we will always remember your dedication and resolve. As we celebrate your life, we wish you a peaceful rest. Until we meet again...
