Matthew P. Butler Jr.

Matthew Patrick Butler, Jr., 93, Born May 9, 1931 in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Matthew and Katherine (Morrison) Butler. Raised in West Roxbury, Massachusetts, he received his primary education and continued and earned a Master of Education degree from Lesley College in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In the 1950’s he served in the United States Air Force, later on in life he worked for several years as a school teacher and worked in the hospitality and entertainment industries.

One of his proudest accomplishments was his 58-year relationship with Bill W. Helping the sick and suffering alcoholics was one of his life’s missions.

Matthew passed away in North Miami, FL on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. Husband of Beverly (Brown) Butler, his beloved wife and amazing caregiver. Brother of Rev. Robert Butler of Boston, MA; the late Mary B. Mullaney of Dennis, MA; and Venice, FL; the late Rev. Richard Butler of Boston, MA; and the late Charles Butler of Easton, MA. In addition to his wife and brother, he leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews who cherish his memory and unfailing sense of humor.
