Our friendship started at FRCMA Lemoore as we both was stationed together and was deployed together. I was like a mentor and we talked almost everyday on and off the ship. Our friendship continued even after I retired and moved home to Atlanta. She was always a beautiful soul, amazing mother, and amazing friend. I miss her so so much and always find myself smiling bc that's what she always did. R.i.p. my dear friend until we meet again on the other side and I love you friend forever and ever.

Spooner, you were always such a wonderful, happy, sweet individual. We use to laugh about how you were always borrowing my stuff. I will cherish the conversations we use to have and the times you were my confidant. I hope you're at peace and that your babies grow up knowing how amazing their Mama was! ♥️

Hola Chica,
	T, I love the talks we had. Most of the topics were family oriented but others were finding out who we were as Women, Mothers, and Partners. At the end of our conversations we always gave each other positive advice. You were very open about your thoughts and feelings, so was I, lol, well not as open as you. In our conversations you would always take accountability in any situation. I would pose a question to you and your response would be “you’re right Mel, Thank You.” Your main focus was and has always been Kaydence and Kahlia, in addition to taking care of them you made it your goal to live your life to the fullest. There were days that you weren’t at events due to lupus, but Andre and I always heard from you. The day that Andre presented the idea of choosing you as Prince’s godmother, I couldn’t think of anyone well fitting for the job. You have always been a positive force in Andre’s life, my life, and our life as a union. Who better to care for our child on earth & in heaven but YOU. Your positive & nonjudgmental spirit have always shined through your continence. I remember  when I first met you and the topic of conversation was love, you were adamant and passionate that no matter your color or gender, we should all experience love because we are all HUMAN BEINGS. Many people fail to see the hearts of others, but not you. You were always ready to STAND-UP for anyone. I was in awe and thought that you were a unique individual. Yesterday, I thought of you and posed a question to myself, what can I do for the woman, who I would not hesitate to instill great lessons to my child? And I thought, be a positive role model to your kids in some fashion or another. I will continue to live my best life and stay positive. With that being said, I will make it my purpose to give my loved ones their “flowers” when they are alive as well as during their home-going. You have said it time and time again. She wanted to join the Navy and accomplished that, wanted to ride a horse and did that, wanted to be baptized at young age and did that. Tania was great debater. She could argue any case with you and succeeded in winning it. Tania is described as a fighter who fights hard and always with a smile on her face no matter how hard the battle. When we are alive in the heart’s we leave behind we do not die. Tania was a beautiful book of which 26 chapters had been written and the 27th chapter was in process. She had a joyous spirit that was unmatched.  I know I speak for all of us when I say that to know Tania was to love her. She was truly the essence of beauty and compassion. Tania was blissful with a soul that could only be matched by an angel. Tania had a special spirit and a selfless heart. She found beauty in everyone and everything. There was never a person in need who she didn't find a way of helping. She truly lived her life to the fullest and was happy to have others on her journey. 
The saying life has no limits was ever so fitting, for in her eyes there were no limits to the things she could accomplish. She bravely smiled in the face of adversity. Even on her worst days she carried a smile that brightened lives. 
Tania loved children, especially kids with special needs. She saw beauty in their imperfections. As a child she dreamed of motherhood. When she was blessed to became a mother, she took on the role of motherhood gracefully. There was no title she held greater than that of "mommy". 
Kaydence, words cannot express the joy, peace, and strength you gave your mom. You were literally her pride and joy. She always talked about how you had a way of knowing when something was wrong and how you would just come and kiss her and say "I love you". Your simple gesture gave her unimaginable joy. The bond you and her shared was something you shall forever Cherish.
Kahlia, your mother’s love will live through you always. You were her Faith. 
One of Tania's signature lines was "I have lupus. Lupus does not have me." Even in her last days she lived by those words. She never stopped talking about her plans for her future. 
As we gather here today, I want us all to take a few pages out of Tania's book. Those of you who confided in her can attest to me saying that she would tell all of us to go after our dreams no matter how farfetched they may seem. She would say to never give up and to fight even on your lowest days. And when life seemed like it was about to knock you down, she would tell you to do your best to find the strength to carry on. Though we have lost a very special piece of our lives, we still have the love she gave all of us and love leaves memories that no one can steal.  God bless you and rest in peace.

A great role model for all whether young or old, and hope your daughters inherits this trait from you. God had a plan for you and you executed it to the fullest.

My dear Tania, you were such a loving, supportive and a graceful young woman. I missed our birthday lunches together, our talks about life and plans for your future.  I silently watched you as you battle with the pain that Lupus caused, your frequent visits to the hospital, and this saddened me. 
When I asked you how you are doing, you always responded to say, "I am doing OK Papa Tony." I always hoped that your struggle with Lupus would end positively, and soon It unfortunately ended sooner than anyone expected, and certainly not the way any of us would have liked it to end. Selfishly, I wanted more time with you, but the Lord called you home at such a young age. 
Tania, you were not my biological daughter but mutually shared that father/ daughter bond. I deeply miss you, rest in peace my love, and say hello to mama for me.  Love You.

I remember the first time I met Tania. She was about 1 years old and from that moment I fell in love with her. She was a very fun and happy child who grew into a warm and caring young lady. Tania Amanda Spooner, what a pleasure to have know you.
Unfortunately, today is the day we part ways,

Your time here on earth was cut short, 
But now you're an angel in heaven looking down.
We still can feel your presence, hear your soft voice,

While everyone called her Tania, I would call her Amanda. Cousins were our official title, but we literally grew up together like sisters. We had the sister fights, shared laughs, get on each other’s nerves at times, and I will not forget how you always had my back when we would get in trouble. I can truly say it was all good times. 
Tania’s smile would just brighten the day and she always told me to believe in my dreams. She was such a beautiful soul. I miss you my best friend, but I know you are no longer suffering.

Tania is/was my daughter and she is/was my best friend.  I had her when I was 19 years old, so we grew together. She taught me so much; such as, how to be a mother and a strong woman.  In a way, she made me into the person I am today and for that I want to thank her. 
Tanya was a kind, loving, and caring person. She would willingly give up her last just to make sure that someone else was ok. Her death has left a void in my life that cannot be filled. Tania, I long to hear your voice once again calling my name, and to have one more opportunity to see your face during one of our many FaceTime calls.

Hello and Good Morning.  For those of you who do not know me my name is Richard Carey and I  am one of Tania’s many cousins.  Usually I am a relatively quiet person however Tania’s death has shaken me to my core.  This last time of Tania being in the hospital just felt different.   It gave me an uneasy feeling.  When Tania got better for a week and we were able to put certain things into place and then got suddenly worse something in my gut I just felt like this was it. It pains me to know that my gut was right.  The night of her passing I couldn’t sleep as I struggled with the idea of why God would take someone who finally had turned the corner and was getting her life on track.  Why God would take someone who has two children, Kaydence and Khalia, to have them be raised without their mother.  Why God would take away Brandon’s Sister and my Aunt Cluadette’s only daughter.  These questions I still don’t have the answer to but all I can say It’s Gods will.  The answer is incomplete and not perfect but it is the answer that has allowed me to push through this difficult week and make it to this day where we all have to put my cousin to rest. 
My cousins and I come from a family of immigrants.  Just like my dad did for my Auntie Elaine and brought her up from Jamaica, my uncle William and Auntie Elaine paid it forward and brought my Auntie Claudette up with her two children Tania and Brandon.  I’m 10 years older than Tania but I always shared a special kinship with her.  Since I’ve known Tania, she always had this infectious joy.  She always had this unapologetic attitude.  Its why I always knew she was meant to do great things.  Tania was the light of any room.  She was the cousin that made the effort to reach out to all her cousins, aunts, and uncles to keep us close together.  You could say that even at her young age Tania was the glue that helped keep this family together.  After Tania served in the Military, she did not want to go back home to Kansas, so she moved in with me. I had kept in touch with Tania throughout her service in the Navy but when she moved in things got real.  I knew Tania was sick, but I did not realize just how sick Tania was.  Part of it was the Lupus but I think when she first got out the bigger part was the depression.  I am not going to sugar coat it, I witnessed Tania first hand struggle with a self-medicating and struggle with getting out of bed daily, but Tania pushed through.  She was always a fighter. 
In those first months I spent many nights with Tania at the emergency room dealing with pain, enlarged heart, liquid in her lung, and the list goes on.  Throughout it all Tania was always more concerned with how I was doing and what was going on with me than battle that she was currently in.  That is just who Tania was.  A person who genuinely put the needs of everyone else in front of her own.  
Tania had her ups and downs and battles with Lupus but in the last few years after the birth of her daughter in my opinion she finally learned how to manage it.  One of my favorite quotes is Life is a matter of choices, and every choice you make, makes you.  Tania started to make choices that were making her.  She was eating better, monitoring herself better, not self-medicating, and finally saw that the world was her oyster and that she could do anything that she wanted to do.  I believe these changes came because she saw that being a mother to her daughter Kaydence was more important than anything else in the world.  And Tania was a great mother.  

It is sad and it hurts to see that this journey for Tania was cut short however it is now our collective journey to make sure that the needs of Tania’s children are fulfilled.  People often say it takes a village and for Kaydence and Khalia we are that village.  Our families may not know each other well however we now have a job to do.  To Jahmal as I told you privately and I will tell you publicly, I know you are hurting.  I know this is not going to be easy, but this is your time to step up.  You have two beautiful daughters and they are going to need you.  As I said before if there is anything that you need, I know myself and my family are here to help and I’m sure your family is as well. Communication is key.  To Brandon I know your heart is aching.  I couldn’t imagine losing my brother, but I also know that you are a strong young man.  We are your family and we have your back.  To my Auntie Claudette the strength you have exhibited throughout this process is a strength that only a parent could exhibit.  You have been the rock, truly stoic, and although I know you are hurting inside, I see the peace that gives you comfort.  Tania would never want you to stop laughing and being they happy person that you are.    To all Tania is watching down over us, our families, and her daughters.  It is truly sad that we don’t get to see the continuing changes that Tania was making but we will always see Tania in her two beautiful daughters.  As I said before the only thing that makes sense in this difficult time is that it is God’s Will.

Her smile was one that could light up the entire universe.  Tania you will be missed by many, but the special moments we shared will be cherished forever.
