

Alfred “Fred” Joseph Mascaro Jr., 82 passed away on March 8,2026. after a long battle with cancer. Born February 19, 1944, in Yonkers, New York, his family later moved to Florida in 1958.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Mascaro Sr. and Josephine Mascaro.
Fred is survived by his sister, Rita Mascaro and her companion Alex Marlowe of Palm Beach Gardens; his longtime companion, Genie Van Santen; his daughter, Marcy Dann (Chris); grandchildren Christina Dann Goff and Robert Dann; great-granddaughters Audrey and Niomi Goff; Genie’s family—Stacy, Kendall, Lindsay, and Chase; and many cousins and friends.
He graduated from Riviera Beach High School and attended Palm Beach Junior College. After serving in the Army Reserves, he began his career at Pratt & Whitney before joining the Army. In 1968 he joined PBSO and Through decades of dedicated service to the community, he rose through the ranks and retired as a Captain in January 14, 1998. He later returned to serve the department as a civilian employee until May 18, 2016.
Fred never met a stranger and was known for remembering birthdays and calling family and friends during holidays just to wish them well. He loved his family, his Italian heritage, and his faith.

Visitation will be held April 10 from 5–8 PM at Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral Home. A Mass will be celebrated April 11 at 10am at St. Ignatius Loyola Cathedral, followed by burial and a celebration of life at Moose Lodge.
