

Anna “Gale” James, 79, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Gale grew up in Paducah, KY and was a 1955 graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School. She then attended Florida Southern College and later transferred to Vanderbilt University where she earned her undergraduate degree. She then went on to receive her Master’s Degree from University of Kentucky. Shortly after graduating, Gale, moved to Arizona and worked as a counselor at the Phoenix Indian School. She then moved to California where she had a successful career as a college professor at Pierce College in Woodland Hills, CA. She retired from Pierce College after 33 years of teaching psychology. She won many recognition awards at Pierce College and became Chairperson for Department of Psychology before retiring in 1999.
Gale was an avid horsewoman and started riding horses as a child. She has had many horses throughout her life and loved every one of them. She loved spending time at the barn and loved showing, eventing and trail riding. After retiring she moved to Tryon, NC and was a member of the Green Creek Hounds where she won the Hunter Pace.
Gale is survived by her niece, Sue Ellen James Richter of West Palm Beach, FL and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Palmer James, Sr. and Byington Carson; her brother Earl Palmer James, Jr. and her nephew Earl Palmer James, III.
A memorial is being planned in California at a later date.
