Bonnie Mauro

Bonnie Jean Addy Mauro, 82, passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at her home with her five children by her side. Bonnie had been living in her homes in Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Amagansett, NY since the passing of her husband Frank R. Mauro in July, of 2001.

Born August 30, 1929, Bonnie was the oldest daughter of Charles William Addy and Mable Elizabeth Willis Addy, in the beautiful, small town of Newcomerstown, Ohio. Bonnie loved Newcomerstown and always believed it to be a place where everyone seemed to be your friend.

After graduating from Newcomerstown High School, she entered the White Cross School of Nursing in Columbus, OH, from which she graduated in 1950 with her nursing degree.

She spent nearly two years working as an operating room nurse before deciding that she wanted to explore and see a little more of the world. She became an American Airlines Stewardess in 1952. This was at a time when having a nursing degree was a prerequisite for the job. She always looked back fondly on being a stewardess, knowing that she participated in and was part of the glory days of aviation.

After her marriage to Frank Mauro in 1953 and in the years that followed, Bonnie focused her attention on raising her five children in Fayson Lakes, New Jersey. Bonnie also volunteered for leadership positions at the local Catholic Parish, Our Lady of the Magnifcat and organized and led the School Nurse Program at De Paul Catholic High School in Wayne, NJ during the 1970s and early 80s.

She is survived and will always be loved by her daughters Gina Demasco and Amy Malisse; her sons John, Frank, and Joe; her Granddaughters Adra, Addy, Morgan, Corey, Bonnie, and Caity; her Grandsons Michael, Vincent, Johnny, Chris, Malcom, Gabriel, and Kyle; her sisters Jane and June, and her brother Bill; her Sister In-Law Rose. As well as numerous cousins, and nine nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.

A wake will be held at Howard-Price Funeral Home, 754 US Hwy. 1, North Palm Beach, FL on Thursday, July 5, 2012 from 2:00-4:00pm. A Mass will be said at the Cathedral of St. Ignatius in Palm Beach Gardens on Friday, July 6, at 10:00am. A reception will be held after for family and Friends.

In lieu of flowers the family suggested Memorial contributions to Hospice of Palm Beach County, Inc.
