Our beloved mother and friend, Carmen N. Jaramillo, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 93 on October 4, 2016, surrounded by her two loving children. Carmen was born in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico. She graduated from the University of Puerto Rico, and completed all her doctorate work in Business and Education at NYU. She decided not to do her thesis, but instead married Edward Vernon Jaramillo (predeceased). They had four children together.
Carmen worked at many prestigious institutions including the World Bank and as the Language Department Chair at Suncoast High School. She received great joy in helping students prepare for AP and IB exams, but felt her greatest accomplishments came from being an advocate, counselor and friend to students who were the '"underdog". In her later years, we saw hundreds of students around town run up to her, hug her and thank her for starting them on the right path. She was an avid prayer for all that she knew and didn't know.
Carmen is survived by her loving children Beverley A. Jaramillo, and Arthur L. Jaramillo.
Arrangements under the direction of Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation and Event Center, North Palm Beach, FL.
