Edward Francis Blanchette (68) of West Palm Beach, Fl passed away on April 14th, 2021. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on January 24th, 1953. Ed grew up in Wilton Manors, Fl with his parents, Gerard and Marie Blanchette, his two sisters, Mary Anne and Joan, and a pack of cousins who he called his brothers.
Ed graduated from St Thomas Aquinas High School in 1971. He later received his Bachelor and Masters of Fine Arts from Florida State University where he met his wife of 43 years, Beverly Blanchette (married 1975).
He built his career in technical theatre, starting at the Pope Theatre, later known as Florida Stage, as Technical Director (TD). He reached the height of his career as TD at the Public Theater in NYC (Shakespeare in the Park).
He was happiest in his career, though, working alongside his dedicated students at Lake Worth High School and Alexander W. Dreyfoos, Jr. School of the Arts.
He retired in December 2019 and spent many joyful days with his daughters, son-in-law, and granddaughters. He enjoyed renovating his home in Old Northwood Harbor and taking his dog, Mo, to the dog park.
He had a passion for the great outdoors, fishing, playing the guitar, and telling (long-winded) stories. He was a true Hippie.
He was survived by his daughters, Erin B. Haag (Eric Haag) and Megan Blanchette, granddaughters, Stevie Haag (7) and Parker Haag (6), sisters, Mary Anne Blanchette and Joan Zielinski, and his dog, Mo.
A Celebration of Life will be held in-person on Saturday, April 24th, 2021 from 2-5pm at Quattlebaum Funeral Home in North Palm Beach. Guests are asked to dress as if they are attending a backyard BBQ as Ed hated nothing more than dressing up. Jeans, shorts, and t-shirts were his favorites.
In lieu of flowers, Ed requested that donations be made in his honor to The American Cancer Society.
