Elizabeth Lent Cohen

Elizabeth Lent Cohen of Palm Beach Gardens passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, at her home surrounded by family. Cohen, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, was also a skilled mathematician, teacher and business manager. She was born in Highland, New York, in 1924. After graduating from high school at 16, she received her undergraduate degree from Wells College, in Aurora, New York, and her master’s degree in mathematics from Brown University. Cohen taught high school and prepared scholastic achievement test math questions early in her career. She married Martin Joseph Cohen, Ph.D., in September 1949, and had 67 loving years together before his passing in 2017. They moved to West Palm Beach, Florida, in 1954, and relocated to Palm Beach Gardens, in 1998. Cohen was an active volunteer while raising children; she served on the board of the science museum at Dreher Park and as a docent in the planetarium. When her children departed for college, Cohen transitioned to business management to help with the family business, PCP Inc, a company devoted to developing ion mobility spectrometry technology. Cohen is survived by her three children: Douglas Lent Cohen of Stuart, Alice Cohen Charach of Toronto; and Marcia Jane Cohen of San Francisco. She was the loving grandmother of Phoebe and Clara Cohen; Nathaniel and Dorothy Charach; and Amelia and Charlotte Harris, and the great-grandmother to Roy Cohen-Kim; Maya Charach and Neri Milroy; Evelyn and Seth Potash; Juniper Weiss; and Henry Burstyn. She is also survived by brother David S. Lent and sister-in-law Susanna Lent.
