Francis Xavier Kennedy, age 74, of Chatham MA. and Palm Beach Gardens FL., died peacefully surrounded by the ones he loved on Jan.6, 2014. Frank is survived by his loving and beloved wife Diane, his children Susan K. (Michael) Basehore of Williamsburg, VA, Sandor P. (Oana) Fuss of Denver, CO, Sara F. (John) Pells of Brewster, MA, Gabrielle Kennedy (Malcolm Fontier) of Manhattan, NY, Catherine Kentfield (Lucian Picariello) of Hadley, MA, and Adam Kentfield of Chatham, MA. Frank is also survived by his four siblings Rosemary Manning, Maureen Leahy, Genevieve McCarthy and Paul Kennedy, and ten grandchildren. Francis is predeceased by his sister Eleanor and his brother Thomas. He is also predeceased by his son William Thomas and survived by Billy’s wife Megan of Norwell, Ma. Frank was born in Boston, MA, attended BC High School and graduated from Northeastern University.
Frank was a lover of life, a champion of family, and a friend to all who crossed his path. One of his favorite pastimes was to greet and engage his guests as Innkeeper of the Dolphin of Chatham for over 35 years. He was an active member of numerous clubs and societies, including the New England Innkeepers’ Association, from which he received the Lifetime Achievement Award, and served as president of the Chatham Chamber of Commerce. Frank was a member of the United Methodist Church of Chatham and attended the Oceanview United Methodist Church in Juno Beach, FL. Frank was the kind of man for whom his hand shake meant his word. Nothing made him happier than his family at his side, a burger at the Squire, and a rare steak at Pate's. He was a man who loved humor, loved to laugh, and had a sparkle in his eye for everyone he met.
His family will be receiving friends at the Howard-Price Funeral Home at 754 US Highway One, North Palm Beach, FL, on Thursday January 9th from 3:00-5:00pm. A celebration of Frank’s life will be held on Friday January 10th at 4:00pm at Oceanview United Methodist Church, 701 Ocean Drive, Juno Beach Fla.
