Uncle George and I spent countless weekends in my late teens through my mid twenties hanging around up in his apartment in White Plains. There was plenty of silliness and joking around as we watched hockey and football together. He and I were long-suffering Cleveland Browns fans and I would bet I became a Browns fan when I was 6 years old because of him. He worked as an engineer and customer rep for corporate jet clients at Westchester airport and we would often pal around the airport checking out the jets, talking about everything under the sun and undoubtedly sneaking off to the lunch counter for coffee and a few doughnuts. He had a real sweet tooth but our little game was to keep such indulgences a secret from Aunt Kim!! We would often grab two pints of Haagen-Daz ice cream, two different flavors, while watching a hockey game on TV and without a word, like some unspoken dance, we would trade containers after eating half. We were together for many NY Giants home games from my father's season tickets as well as NY Ranger games at MSG with his younger brother, Johnny Boy. Back in 2006 I visited Florida to stay with him and Kim. I had gotten first row seats for two Florida Panthers hockey games which was a real treat for us both. Sitting on his apartment terrace having a few cigars, maybe a cocktail, just enjoying the passage of time. He was a lot of fun; we made each laugh with our goofy routines like two kids bombing around the school yard. The last time I saw him was in 2012 when he came back to NY for his brother's funeral. We spent the afternoon driving around his old Corona neighborhood, marking all the changes, the houses that have vanished, in particular his parents' house at 34-27 105th street. He had a story and a memory for nearly every nook and corner of the area. He was a decent, honest and loving man who never let adulthood interfere with his youthful and childlike demeanor. God love him and keep him.

James (Jim) Bonomo

My earliest memories of Uncle George was when I was 4 or 5 years old, back in the late 1950’s. So, we knew each other for over 80 years. He would at that time come home on leave from the U.S. Navy wearing his crisp, white Navy uniform. Darkly handsome with a Mediterranean complexion he inherited from his Sicilian ancestry. He would often take me into Manhattan on Memorial Day weekends, for “Fleet Week”, when aircraft carriers, battleships, submarines and other navy vessels, both foreign and U.S., would all be docked at Manhattan’s Hudson River piers. We toured them all, learning from Uncle George everything about both the ships themselves and naval warfare in general. Then when I grew into my early teen years, he introduced me to cultural life in Manhattan, especially the many art museums and other cultural and historical sites.
He was more like a big brother to me than an uncle. And I was fortunate to continue spending time with him as he studied at college, began his career as an aircraft specialist and instructor, through to when he met and married Aunt Kim, to whom he remained married for 59 years, as they both raised their son, William (Linh).
We remained in contact even after he, Aunt Kim and Billy moved to Florida, where I and my husband, Will, visited them more than once. And when I myself moved down to Palm Beach 5 years ago, before Uncle George became too ill to communicate well, we spent his last years discussing and reviving old memories, laughing along the way. 
I loved him and I will miss him. We are not likely to ever meet again someone with his good looks, warmth, intelligence, sense of humor, humility and love for his family.

My Uncle Georgie was a great man…. Smart articulate. I’m happy I was able to see him with the family with Baby Jim. He will be missed tremendously… FOREVER YOUR NIECE JANINE BONOMO -Joe’s daughter Now he’ll be with GrandMa Joy and all the brothers … 😞🙏🏻🌹

My greatest memory of Uncle George was when he told us stories about my parents when they immigrated to the USA. His stories were so animated and comical. Some of the stories left us laughing and some left us in tears. He always spoke so highly of my Dad (Uncle George’s brother in law). The most admirable story was about when my Dad rode his bike to work in twelve feet of snow. That’s a real man and Father with determination. We will never forget that story. My Dad also spoke respectfully of Uncle George, mentioning what a kind and an intelligent man he was. He had an immense amount of respect for the Bonomos. Uncle George was a loving husband and a kind hearted soul. May you rest in peace. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Uncle George, you were a titan in my family memories. I’ll never forget our trips to NY to visit, our trip to the Poconos where it was so beautiful and peaceful. We had so much fun playing games, acting out skits, all while you were our gregarious MC. My father still continues to speak so highly and lovingly of you and Aunt Kim. We love you and will miss you deeply. Your niece, Jackie

The last time I spent time with Uncle George was March 2022 and it was sad to see him struggle to remember events. Some things were clear as day for him while other memories, he struggled to find in his brilliant mind. He is the only Uncle I’ve ever known in my life. And he will never be forgotten.

It’s Christmas 1979 and one the core childhood memories is going to NYC to see Aunt Kim & Uncle George. I think we took the greyhound bus from NC to NYC. It was a special Christmas and I will never forget sitting beside Uncle George listening to him talk and him smoking his pipe. I really loved the smell of tobacco bc of that core memory. He was such a big personality with such a dominating presence. He was so intelligent and also had such a big presence about him. You felt protected around him.

Kim I am so sad to hear this news, and know you and Billy are experiencing a great loss in your lives.  I too recently lost my better half Jackie and looking back at the times we all got together, brings back wonderful memories.
Way back when George was a Tech Rep. for Garrett @ HPN, and I was a sales person for Garrett on Long Island, I made many trips there to visit corporate customers at the airport which included visiting George at his office.
The first time I met George I will never forget what he said to me.... there was a technical issue with one of the corporate customers at the airport and George said the customer took there grievance to Garrett HQ in California and I asked how it was going & this is what George said "When dinosaurs fight....us humans get out of the way".  I knew right there he had a great sense of humor & we kept in touch from those days till now.  All of you will be in my daily  prayers.
