Gilbert Lonnie Hataway “Gil”, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather went home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on February 25, 2018. Gil was born on May 7, 1933. He graduated from the University of Houston and went on to serve in Military Intelligence for the U.S. Army. Gil moved to Palm Beach County in 1960.
He worked for Universal Atlas Cement for 20 years before becoming president of H & N Air Conditioning. He was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he served as Treasurer, Chairman of the Administrative Board, a Trustee and Lay Leader, Co-Chairman of the Building Committee for the Fellowship Hall, and was a member of countless other committees. Gil was instrumental in starting Boy Scout Troop 132, where he was the committee chairman for many years. He served as Chairman of Christian Businessmen and President of Air Conditioning Contractors Assoc. for a time. He was very proud of his work as a Captain of Citizens on Patrol with the Town of Lake Park and the Sheriff's office for 14 years.
Gil is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jo Ann. Along with his son, Mark Hataway (Jimi); Daughter in Law, Amy Hataway; his grandchildren: Tricia Powell (Mark); Joanna Walsh (Joe); Daniel Hataway and Joshua Hataway (Anna). As well as his great grandchildren: Brad, Micah and James Powell; Markie and Joey Walsh and Mateo Hataway.
He is predeceased by his sons: Randall, Steven, and Gregory Hataway, and his parents Gilbert L. and Nina D. Hataway.
Gil loved his wife and family, especially all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at HOWARD-QUATTLEBAUM FUNERAL AND EVENT CENTER, 754 US Highway 1, North Palm Beach, FL. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 10:00 am at Trinity United Methodist Church, 9625 N Military Trail, Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Burial is private.
