Jeff was a local business man; he got his start in the retail business with his father in Eau Claire, WI. After he moved to Florida, he owned Marcus Jewelers in West Palm Beach, a well-known jewelry store that was a cornerstone of the community. Jeff opened Marcus Jewelers in 1979 and ran it with his loving wife JoAnn -- and usually one of their sweet little dogs -- by his side as well as with his valued employees Vicki Wasson and Vinnie Dionese. Jeff cherished building personal connections with his clients who often became friends, and he was always delighted to help them on joyous occasions. He took immense pride in his work and provided exceptional service and gorgeous jewelry to the delight of many.
For more than two decades, Jeff was a member of the Executives Association of the Palm Beaches, which became a major element of both his professional and social life.
Beyond his professional life, Jeff loved to experience every luxurious corner of the world with JoAnn and their beloved daughter Taylor. His criteria for an acceptable accommodation included a marble bathroom and running water. From African safaris to annual ski trips, the three of them share unforgettable experiences.
Jeff was an avid golfer and played weekly for 30+ years. He considered Abacoa Golf Club his second home, thanks to Robbie and Terri Dew’s hospitality and the incredible staff. Despite having Parkinson’s disease for over a decade, he played throughout his retirement with the help of his golf buddy and dear friend Mike Mash.
Jeff was also a fabulous trumpet player. Listening to jazz music was part of his being, and Jeff himself could have described his life as “all that jazz…”
Jeff is survived by his wife JoAnn, his children Taylor, David (Deborah), Susan, and Eric (Jennifer), and his grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at Abacoa Golf Club on Thursday, October 23 at 12PM to honor and celebrate Jeff’s life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Norton Museum of Art, an institution that reflects Jeff’s lifelong appreciation for beauty, culture, and community as well as JoAnn’s second home, where she has been a volunteer for 20+ years.
Whenever you see a diamond sparkle extra bright, remember Jeff.
