Ron was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 3, 1944 to Mark and Mary Rita Hickinbotham. He graduated from the Thornton Township High School in 1962, and served honorably in the US Army from 1963-1969. Ron received his college degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Purdue University in 1970.
Ron married Sherry on November 25, 1967, and they were married for 52 years before his passing. Ron and Sherry moved from Chicago to South Florida in 1978. Shortly after moving to South Florida, Ron began a 2-way radio business, which then transformed into a career in the cellular communication business that many are familiar with today. He was in the business for over 25 years and retired in 2008.
He had since enjoyed spending time with family. He was the kindest, most generous man that helped many people over the years asking for no recognition. He wanted nothing more than to be able to extend a helping hand to those that may need it at the time.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry; daughters Dawn Hollandsworth (husband Tom), and Tracey Hall; grandchildren Thomas and Ashley Hollandsworth, Dane Hall, Taylor Hickinbotham; sisters Margaret, Eileen, Diana and Casey; 10 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents Mark and Mary Rita Hickinbotham.
We will be celebrating Ron’s life on October 17th from 2-6 pm at the Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation and Event Center, 754 US Highway 1, North Palm Beach, FL 33408.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trustbridge Hospice or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
