Palm Beach Gardens, Florida – Surrounded by the love of his family, Ronald Albert Winblad passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025, at the age of 87. Born November 22, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, he was the cherished son of Elizabeth and Martin Winblad.
Ron was a graduate of Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado, where he played quarterback on the football team. He also served honorably in the U.S. Army as part of the 82nd Airborne Division.
One of the happiest moments of his life was meeting his beloved wife, Linda, while working as a taxi driver in 1961. They married in 1962 and shared 62 wonderful years together until Linda’s passing on November 12, 2024.
Ron is survived by his children: David Winblad, Kathryn Hope, Amy Foderaro and son-in-law Troy Foderaro; his five grandchildren: Hunter Hope (wife Erica), Summer Hope, Piper Hope, Hailey Foderaro, and Ryan Foderaro; his loving sister Nancy Greig, brother-in-law Art Greig, niece Julie Mikec (husband Frank) and nephew David Greig (wife Tara); sister- and brother-in-law Judy and John Hasler, niece Susan Hasler Ryerson (husband John) and nephew Steven Hasler (wife Shawn McIntosh).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth and Martin Winblad; his brothers Richard and Robert Winblad, sister Edythe Compton and his beloved wife Linda Jane Cann Winblad.
Ron’s career in advertising began in Chicago with NBC and CBS. In 1969, he moved his family to Singer Island, Florida, to better support his son with disabilities. Over the years, he worked at WPEC and WPTV television stations, then transitioned into radio with WEAT, WSTU, WJNO, and Radio Disney. One of the highlights of his career was owning and operating WVSI/WCEZ/WRYZ radio stations in Jupiter during the 1980s. Later, he worked in print media with the Palm Beach Post before starting his own advertising agency.
Ron’s humor, kindness, and playful spirit lit up every room he walked into...literally. He was the ultimate party and wedding guest and would be the first on the dance floor, ready to get things going. When his children were younger, he loved doing silly skits and tricks with them and later passed this on to his grandchildren. Ron was active and adventurous, with a love for surfing, swimming, rollerblading and running. In the 1980s, he was director of the Palm Beach Runner’s Club, the Masters Running Association and Eastern Surfing Association. He also loved watching sports, especially football, and usually found himself cheering for the underdog. Ron carried on with his playful spirit until his very last days, still making his family laugh which came as no surprise to them.
Ron was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, friend, neighbor, and citizen, truly an amazing human being. He had a heart of gold and never missed a chance to remind others how much they meant to him. Above all, he was completely devoted to his family. As he often said, “Heaven is here on earth with my family.” His loved ones will honor his legacy by cherishing his memory and living as he taught them: with love, kindness, and laughter.
The family wishes to thank all the doctors, nurses, and caregivers who cared for both Ron and Linda over the past few years. A special thank you goes to Trustbridge Hospice, whose support made the final weeks more manageable.
A private family service will be held in the coming days. In lieu of flowers, if you would like to honor Ron and Linda, you may contribute to a GoFundMe page for their son David, carrying forward the love, devotion, and care that defined their lives and ensuring he is always supported as they would have wished.
